We chose this restaurant because of location and ta reviews. It was quiet on a week night to our advantage but busy on weekends. One of the best meals ever! The octopus with potatoe foam was angelical. Every recommendation our waiter made was on spot. The wine, tikki masala mussels divine sauce that we asked for a spoon to keep... More

We went to this restaurant on the back of Trip Advisor reviews and we were a little bit disappointed by the experience. The tapas were average (except for the delicious tuna tartar) and we waited a lot for our tapas to be served. On a more positive note the staff is great and attentive.

Gastromaquia is in the gay neighborhood of Madrid. This restaurant is small, but service and food is excellent. We got the fried goat cheese with honey and basil oil, octopus with foamed potatoes, and the black rice paella. The goat cheese is served with bread and is so savory. My husband is not a fan of goat cheese, but he... More

Restaurant doesn't open for dinner until 8:30 so don't go early. Reservations recommended. Small place; friendly staff. Tasty food. Menu divided into several categories. We shared most dishes. Reasonably priced. Ended up being 50€ a couple including tip.

Went here to grab a bite of food. The place looks cute from the outside and is rather nice inside as well. The food was good and the waitors were attentive and very nice.

This really is a little gem of a restaurant. We booked on the back of other positive TripAdvisor reviews and were so glad we did as we probably wouldn't have found it without those reviews. The restaurant facia doesn't really jump out at you but once inside it was immediately apparent we'd made a good choice. The staff were very... More

After completing a six day trek of El Camino De Santiago, several friends and I stopped over in Madrid for three days. One evening we found a quaint little restaurant Gastromaquia. The service was excellent, the food was superb. Very affordable . This was one the great evening meals we had while in Madrid.

**This will be posted on Yelp, TripAdvisor, and Google because those are the places I look before picking a place** Incredible service! I mean, the kind of service that made us look at each other and say "this would never happen in the states". Our waiter was quick, kind, and knowledgeable about the dishes we wanted to try (mainly the... More

Everything we had (grilled octepous, goat cheese with honey, tuna tartar and guacamolly) was very good - intresting in taste and design. The service was also extermely friendly. The only thing was that it ended up being more than we imagined for a couple (52eu with no alcohol).

Found this through Trip Advisor. Had to wait a while before they opened at 8:30pm and happy I did. Took the tuna tartar and squid, both were delicious as was the wine by the glass. Only regret is that as I was alone, because I was full after these and was not able to taste any of the other dishes.... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
