Fabulous Churros, great service, delicious hot chocolate which should be called hot chocolate pudding... the ambience is excellent... bustling, people, chocolate. Definately a thumbs up.

I had the worst customer service experience in Madrid here. Churros were really cold and oily, all you could taste was oil, chocolate dipping was also very cold and too thick. You need to be very careful with service staff here, they're really dodgy, they purposely over charged me and gave me the wrong bill. They thought I wouldn't check... More

The chocolate is very special and tasty, but is not the normal cup of chocolate, look like a jelly (jajaja). You must to taste it. There are not much options, but is a good place. Also the chocolate shop inside is very good, for a special gift.

Was looking forward to this place on a recommendation but it was the worst visit of my trip. Bad service - got the order wrong and couldn't be bothered. Staff so unfriendly and quality was below average. Don't waste your money. Go elsewhere!!!

The line at San Gines was was so long we decided to try another place. This was just as good. I enjoyed sitting at the bar and watching them make the churros. very tasty and not super expensive.

We compared another place with Valor and found Valor's chocolate thicker and tastier and so we think Valor is the best.

Delicious churros and hot chocolate. The hot chocolate is not sweet at all, if you want sweet I'm sure there are sweeter options from the all-chocolate menu.

Average. Food and drink is cheaper at the bar, more expensive at the tables inside, and even more if you sit outside which I think is completely ridiculous. It is near gran via (tourist central) so I guess it's expected. Service was ok, churros are a little different...think mini Chinese donuts. Overall a little overrated and forgettable. Go to San... I have tried Churros in other places that were really oily and the chocolate drink was too heavy. In Valor, in this location, the Churros were light and airy and not oily at all. The chocolate drink for dipping was perfect, not too sweet, not too thick. Just the way I like it.

Neighbourhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
