We stayed in this hotel with our 3 teenage daughters for our first night in Madrid in a double and triple room. The check in staff were friendly and helpful. They put us in rooms opposite each other which was very handy. The rooms are pretty basic but clean and good value for the price. The location is fantastic on... More

I was staying at the hotel and went a couple of times to the restaurant for a beer or two and for a quick breakfast. The service and the food were good and the prices were fair.

Make your reservation in time, as it is often hard to get a table. Good unadorned Spanish cuisine, in particular fish and shellfish; very good value for money.

We stayed at the Mora Hotel and ate breakfast here. First day's was fine and not expensive. Second day's was not very good at all. Coffee is good, but egg choices are disappointing,

After visiting the Prado we visited this restaurant on the opposite side of the road. We ordered the set meal at 10.50 euros. This included a bottle of white wine and a large beer. The two course meal was outstanding and included coffee to finish. Superb value. As we left, the queue of locals trying to get was impressive.

The waiter said the Menu of the Day was unavailable, despite a huge sign outside, and it being on the menu he gave me. Then he just walked away.

Although the waitress was rushed off her feet with customers, we loved the choices on the reasonably-priced menu del dia and marvelled at the way she could seemingly serve everyone at once! Went back twice as it was so much fun!!

Popped in for a quick drink and returned several times with friends as the staff were friendly and helpful and the measures were generous. The only downside was the closing time as this was set slightly apart from the hotel.

For Madrid, Hotel Mora is a very basic, clean and conveniently located hotel to the transportation system. The restaurant is typical local flavor Madrid cuisine. I would recommend the "menu" the mid-day meal of 3 courses with wine. You get more than one meal selection. This location is a great f. or being close to many of Madrid's beautiful and... More

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighbourhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
