We went here while in Madrid for our first wedding anniversary and this restaurant did not disappoint. We've been to Italy a few times and always loved the food, but the food here was as good as anything we've had in Italy. Everything we had was delicious but the involtini di melanzane was out of this world. And a really... More

I went on a couple of occasions to visit this place and I was always very pleased with the food and the service. The "caponata" was excellent and the "carciofini fritti" simply outstanding. Also my first course was delicious on both occasions. Highly recommended.

Our first night in Madrid we felt like eating Italian food. We found what appeared to be a very nice restaurant, close to our hotel. We could not have been more pleased! The service was excellent; the food outstanding. La Tavernetta had a very complete menu, however the evening specials were to die for. Based on our experience the first night... More

Located just around the corner from our hotel, La Tavernetta offers for lunch a 10 Euro meal with 2 courses, a drink and dessert if you eat inside. We didn't realize that this was Italian food! During our 3 days in Barcelona we ate there 3 times. It's quiet enough and we enjoyed excellent service. A small group of construction... More

Situated two blocks south of the wonderful Hotel Orfila and between the Colon and Alonso Martinez Metro stops, this small trattoria with a young, vibrant vibe is a neighborhood gem. Food was simple, yet prepared perfectly. Service was warm, inviting and unrushed (in a good way). Oh, and the value was exceptional. Highly recommended.

dinner with friends, 3rd time, staff seemed overloaded as in "today is my first day at work". very nice food and pasta and spritz as usual but lack of professionals can ruin a nice place. i missed the sicilian hospitality and touch this time. we had to ask for bread more than 3 times (yes, i like the tapenade with... A little italian gem in a lovely calm part of madrid. The food here is amazing (the menu is not very extensive) but everything tastes wonderful! Simple dishes like spaghetti with meatballs is mouthwatering. They even served a couscous with duck and it was very nice. The staff is extremely friendly, and it is not as expensive as you may... I like La Tavernetta as it is not the typical Italian restaurant round the corner with the regular menu but here you can try a different Italian cuisine. Their pisto de berenjenas a la siciliana or (Caponata di melanzane) is delicious and their pastas are original and excellent served as well. They also have some typical Sardinian cheeses they import... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
