I was delighted by the special attention to a solo traveler. I was treated beautifully and my meal (rabbit) was excellent. All was handled with professional courtesy and I would recommend highly.

A tour by bus through highlights of Madrid brought me here. We got some tortilla and a drink. A bit to touristic, mean and cheap, very average service.. but the setting was great.

The outside setting is great, may be OK for a coffee or a drink but look elsewhere for dinner. Truly poor food and gruff service spoilt the evening.

We booked in this restaurant because of its position (in front of the royal palace) and because we found out that it was not expensive altough it was elegant. We had a paella (not the best of my life) and the atmosphere was nice: it was Friday and there was a person playing the piano.. just a bit too close... More

Terrible, grumpy service. Rude waiters. I recommend going to the toilet (downstairs) to check out the excavated bottles but don't bother giving them your patronage.

We went to the restaurant on a recommendation from friends but from start to finish the experience was terrible and the food poor. The waiter was so rude and sarcastic we would have moved immediately but we had just ordered our drinks. Two of the party were vegetarian and the rude waiter told us 'to order the salad then' and... We arrived in Madrid and parked a car at Royal Palace car park, the restaurant is in the front of the palace. We sat at the table ordered a glass of wine, glass of beer, 2 tapas. When got a bill we were charged for a coffee as well, extra 4.50 eur which we did not order. The bill was... More

When we arrived at the restaurant, we asked for a table for two. It took a while to get the waiters' attention as we had stood a while being ignored. When the waiter eventually came over to take our drink order, he got distracted by another table, which I thought was rude. I had asked for a glass of wine... More

This was our first visit to this restaurant and chose it by chance. Overlooking the Palace, it is in a great place to eat in the evening. Probably one of the more expensive places to eat as a result, but not overly. Service was decent, although I would have expected just a bit more, due to the higher prices. We... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
