Very generous portions and using authentic ingredients such as proper BUFFALA mozzarella and seafood spaghetti. You can order half portions with ease or share dishes. The restaurant was quiet staff were very attentive but we were not hassled. A lovely evening

I've been there a few times before and it had always come up trumps. However, last night this wasn't the case. Firstly their signature dish is the 'elephant ear' (large Milanese escalope).....but they only had one left. Secondly, the escalope is served with fries and rocket. Impossible to change that combination. We wanted the escalope with a small amount of... More

First visited this restaurant nine years ago when it was recommended by a friend and decided to visit to see if the food was as good. We weren't disappointed, although being first in, without a reservation, the little restaurant soon filled up with locals and visitors like us. The food we selected was perfectly cooked and well presented, although a... More

A delicious experience! Simply fabulous. Excellent fresh ingredients. Service wasn't too quick, but quality requires time! The ravioli a l'Emiliano are highly recommendable and probably that was probably the best steak tartar I've ever had! Not too cheap, but prices are reasonable when you take into account the quality of the ingredients and the final product. I'll be back!

Nice place tucked in the innards of a street. Cosy ambience - great shangrila. Fresh bread, wonderful oregano. Have prawns which was okay. Others had rissotto which was also okayish. Not worth travelling to but if you are in the neighbourhood, happy place to drop in and catch a bite

This restaurant may not be located in a fantastic area of Madrid but is well worth finding. A good varied Italian food menu. Not cheap but good. We visited on a Wednesday evening, arrived and it was almost empty but was full by the time we left. Would recommend booking ahead. The waiting staff put themselves out to provide good... More

Pretentious restaurant claiming to serve upmarket Italian food. I went with friends who were raving about it & was totally disappointed. We went for lunch & it was almost empty. For 15€ I had 3 large ravioli on my plate. the filling of ricotta was tasty enough but it was hardly a meal & I have had just as good... More

This restaurant is certainly one of the best Italian experiences Madrid has to offer. The food is high quality and they know how to cook it. Also, the staff is very professional and nice. It's not the cheapest option in the area, I'd say you can have a great meal for 30€ per person, but let me tell you something:... More

All four of us thought the food was delicious but the mains would have benefited from slightly more generous portions. We tried two different types of ravioli, one of which came with three on the plate and the other with five. A couple more of each would have gone down well as they were lovely. The tiramisu, cheese cake and... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
