Nice relaxing atmosphere and perfect with 4 kids to have fun while the adults got to sit back and eat lunch. The menu of the day was a total winner!

We decided to stop by after seeing pictures of the deco interior on our way to dinner...but were immediately disappointed when we realized the location was right by the main road and the sound of traffic was not particularly romantic. We had a beer each and noted that the price of food seemed much more expensive. Wouldn't recommend going out... More

We had lunch at what we thought was El Espejo but it was actually the El Pabellon del Espejo, same owner with two locations across from each other (with different managers.) We enjoyed sitting on the terrace until the food arrived- 5 lunches, all terrible. Nothing was good and the hamburgers didn't taste right. The 2 who ate part of... More

On my many visits to Madrid on business I had passes by this beautiful Art Nouveau building many times but the boring menu never tempted me to go in Today, en route to the Thyssen it began to rain hard and I saw a €14 euro lunch which looked tempting Initially I was going to walk straight back out since... El Pabellon del Espejo ia a mix between restaurant and a coffe-shop. It's a kind of glassed veranda - sorry, but I don't know how to describe this kind of architecture. Well, I'm a lawyer, so...- located in the center of the large avenue 'Paseo dos Recoletos' one of the most importants avenues of Madrid. It's a very nice and... More

After a visit to Toledo we came here on a a Friday afternoon on the recommendation of our tour guide. Beautiful building and setting and food was OK but nothing special. Reasonably good value for such a posh location and we enjoyed our visit.

Beautiful building and decorations however the service was absolutely horrible. Our breakfast had to be sent back because it was not cooked among other issues. Stop here for a photo but skip the food. And they charged 8 Euros for a plate of French fries. BEWARE.

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
