The restaurant had been recommended as a "must go." We were not disappointed. The food was excellent and the service also. We loved the torrejas for desert. Probably one of the best we had during our stay in Madrid. I highly recommend making reservations ahead of the trip.

Only an overnight in Madrid so wanted somewhere special. This was recommended, didn't let us down. The room was beautiful, service wonderful and food very special. The sea urchin croquettes in particular were delicious. Loved it.

We came here with high expectations, since it was highly recommended, but it failed to deliver. Can't really fault the staff or the service, which was pretty good. The choice of tables we were offered on arrival were not great. Both were very exposed to passing traffic, one being right in the entrance to the kitchen and the other in... More

We came here with high expectations, and they were all met. The service is formal and very polite. The food is excellent, we recommend the calamari with rice, the black cod, the lubina, and the torrijas for dessert. It's located in a lovely neighborhood. The prices are expensive for european standards, but the experience is worth it.

A friend recommended me this place. I took my American family and they loved it. Service is impecable, food is perfect( no matter what: fish or meat), and the atmosphere was great. I highly recommend this restaurant. My family said it was the best meal they had in the whole trip.

Great restaurant with fabulous food. My favorite dish was mushrooms stuffed with fois (Colmenillas Rellenas de Foie). Make a reservation in advance as it might get busy.

Paraguas came highly recommended by a dear friend who resides in Madrid. It did not disappoint! There are a number of dining rooms within the establshment- all different but with perfect dimensions - you feel accompanied but never over-crowded. The food and service were impeccable. The place filled up completely with well-heeled "Madrilenos' enjoying their lunch. We enjoyed the atmosphere... More

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
