A great place to eat and enjoy the true authentic Madrid night life, away from the tourist areas. Normally packed. You need patience to get a table but well worth the wait.

Had dinner at this place on a Friday night with a friend. It was packed so we had to eat at the bar. I actually prefer dining at the bar so this was cool with me. We had good food and a good conversation between us and the bartender (who was not from Spain) The food was good and reasonably... More

How lovely to move away from the tourist trail and stumble upon this little gem in the back streets off Gran Via. We popped in for an early drink, stayed for another, then ordered tapas.... and searched for it again on our last night in Madrid. Intimate, yet lively and friendly, lovely service, nothing fancy but hits the right spot... More

On a long weekend break in Madrid we ate here twice. on both occasions the food was delicious and the service very friendly. The restaurant was busy on both evenings and had a nice relaxing atmosphere.

We liked it so much we went back again the next night...really friendly service and excellent food and wine at very reasonable prices. We recommend the aubergines in honey, the cod croquetas, the tomato and fresh cheese salad and the bigas.

This restaurant was a reasonably priced, cute little place tucked in Malasena with very good food. We had great patatas brava and a really good salad with goat cheese.

The last time I visited this cool bar/restaurant in the hipster neighborhood of Malasana had have been four years ago at least. I can't remember being duly impressed. However, this time I was more than impressed. Let's get right to the details. We were greeted happily by the waiter. We ordered a Rioja and a wine from Navarra for 2,50.... More

Saw this restaurant mentioned on numerous sites in search of a traditional tapa experience. Fortunately for us it was only a stone's throw from our hotel- so there was no excuse to delay visiting. We arrived early to avoid not getting a table (also because we were not quite accustomed to eating terribly late). As we anticipated we timed our... More

A real local feel with a "comida casera ("homecooking") menu. The honey-glazed roasted eggplant was really awesome. The other dishes (sliced roast chicken with gravy and cod croquettes) were also excellent. Prices are quite reasonable and the service was super friendly. If this is where you find yourself or you want to escape the Gran Via scene, this is a... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
