Lost track how many times I have been to this joint during my 4 day trip. Small and cramped inside, you place order and wait for it to be delivered as you stand next to the locals and enjoys the mushrooms and calamari! The mushrooms are to die for and its super cheap!

Please do yourself and your stomach a favor and go here! These were the best mushrooms i have ever had! Peppers and bread were awesome as well, but if i had to eat only one food for the rest of my life, it might be these mushrooms

Fun way to start a night. The mushrooms were phenomenal and this is coming for a girl who usually doesn't like mushrooms. The croquetas were large and delicious as well. The best part was the keyboard player in the back. Definitely try to get a table, it's worth it. Another pro is that there are other Mesons on the same... More

What can you say about a restaurant that has only about 10 dishes.. Well I can say 10 dishes done perfectly are better than many mediocre, and these were done well. Fantastic atmosphere, a definite buzz to the place.. Quirky but in a good way.. Small tables, even smaller seats, but all help this place be what it is. Even... More

Very good place to stop off by the Plaza Mayor for some wine, sangria and Tapas..The mushrooms are excellent and so are the other items on the menu. Green padrons and the olives are delicious too. I Always find myself stopping off here when I'm in Madrid. You won't be sorry with a visit here.

This was an awesome place to visit! It seems very touristy, but it is the real deal, as the champignon with garlic is really a treat! Small tip, wait until the mushroom has cooled down a little bit, as it really burns.... (ouch).

Phenomenal mushrooms, great peppers. Good sangria. Good beer. We were there before the keyboardist, but the food was worth the trip!!!

Though this restaurant is in a typical tourist neighbourhood, it is still a place people from Madrid go to. The food is really good and the atmosphere is great especially when their usual pianist is there. The decor is really nothing fancy but it's a plqace not to miss

Heard about this place in the bustling area of Plaza Mayor. Wow, I love mushrooms but they take it to a different level. Not stuffed as such but a little piece of chorizo and herbs, cooked to perfection, washed down with an inexpensive glass of wine or cava. I recommend you try this experience for yourselves, but it does get... More

Super small restaurant, the tables&stools are small, which we stumbled across and i'm so glad we did, it does get very busy so be prepared to queue unless you reserve a table. Very small menu choice (tapas) but the star dish is of course the mushrooms, we had two plates and we could have eaten more. Good service, good food,... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
