Buzzing restaurant with huge portions. The service isn't world class but it's an unpretentious restaurant and dele which really knows how to deliver wonderful food at a great price. Be careful not to order too much. We ate their twice and were stuffed every time! Don't worry about trying to book. If you go along, you can put your name down and usually get a table within 20 minutes. That leaves time for a drink in the bar round the corner. Their spaghetti and meatballs is about as good as it gets and their steak Florentine shouldn't be missed. We'd also recommend the antipasti. Their boards of cheese, meats etc are fantastic.

We LOVED this family owned Italian resturant so much we dined here 3 times. during our 6 night stay in Sorrento. Can;t say enough about how great the food was. It was always crowded and full of life. If you were in a line up waiting for a table you were treated to a glass of lovely house wine and sometimes cheese. After dinner, you were Always served Lemoncello which was a nice way to end your meal. I can not say enough about this wonderful homemade cuisine resturant. One of the highlights of our stay in Sorrento. Thank you all at La Cantinaccia Del Popolo for your amazing food and friendly top rated service.

a little restaurant off the main street. Very friendly people who also understand a little english and are very willing to serve good food. As a vegetarian, no matter where I go, I mostly have problems, but this time, it was no issue. They have vegetarian versions of their food and if you ask the waiter/waitress/chef, they are happy to make some home cooked vegetarian food. Delicious. After lunch, you can get some cheese to take away home and try to copy the food at home....good luck! :-)

This restaurant was recommended to us and we were told to get there for opening time as it gets busy and queues can form. Quite honestly I can't see what all the fuss was about. The starter of mixed meats and cheese was tasty however our main course pasta dish was very oily. It didn't really have much flavour. Service was very good and the staff very pleasant. It was quite a walk from the town centre being at the opposite side to where we were staying.

Although this restaurant is not in an obvious location, it attracts a large number of customers due to their offering of well priced, high quality food. The food was some of the best that we had and we heard several other tables mention that they had visited multiple times during their stay. It isn't possible to book, and the tables start to fill up immediately after opening at 7, so it's worth getting there early to avoid queuing, which some people did for a fair bit of time.

If you have to queue to get into a restaurant during a pandemic, you know it's going to be good. We waited about 20 minutes and were given free red wine which made the wait go a lot quicker - stay outside the restaurant, you'll get in quicker than if you leave and wait for them to call you! The food was incredible, especially the filled pasta special - mine was ricotta with a gorgonzola and walnut sauce. We were seated inside next to the deli counter which all looked amazing too. We couldn't stop watching the chef making the charcuterie and cheese boards - wish we'd had room to try one. Don't miss it if you're in Sorrento!

This place is a meat lovers dream. And yet it caters to a wider audience. We had the tuna salad and cheese and meat sharing board. I was debating a steak as well. By the time we’d finished, the steak idea was alive seeing the other steaks come out, but we were full from so much meat and cheesy goodness. Freshened with the salad on the side. The place was busy upon arrival which in these weird times was great to see and when you saw the smile on the owner welcoming you, the food, the wine - you knew why. He let me inside to see about 50 legs of jamon hanging above my head. Fantastic. Come to Italy just to come here!

We visited this restaurant on the recommendation of a couple we met on holiday, they had been the night before and were raving about it. When we arrived it was 9pm and there was a large queue outside (which told us it was very popular). We were given red wine and cheese while we waited which was a lovely touch! The food itself was incredible. We had a cheese and meat platter for 2 (huge), a pasta dish each and a litre of house red all for a very reasonable price. A must in sorrento!!

Found this restaurant , a little bit from Sorrento centre, lots of outside terracing, staff were very friendly, attentive and organised. Eaten there twice during our stay, Fish dishes were amazing, salads and generally large portions. Get their early, as after 19.30 starts to get busy, manager give complimentary drinks to anyone waiting in que for table. Price was reasonable and mixed meat and cheese starter to die for.

This is by far the best and authentic restaurant we have visited in Sorrento. A very friendly team and a proud owner will serve you very delicious dishes to very good prices. The restaurant really deserves its name - for real people by real people.

We went to this restaurant after a visit to Positano. Everything was perfect! The food was delicious and very well priced (10-15€ per plate). The quality was very good, I would gladly pay twice as much for it. The stuff was very polite and helped as in every way possible. It happened to rain the day of our visit (and by rain I mean the whole city was sinking - literally) so there was a power outage for a bit. The stuff played music and ensured everyone was having a good time waiting for the power to come back. They also let the people that were waiting in the queue to come inside so they can be protected from the rain. Definitely well worth the 5 stars, if I were to choose between going to the sea on Positano and this restaurant I would pick the latter every day of the week!

I can not speak highly enough of this restaurant. Have been twice so far this week for lunch and un the evening. Food so tasty and fresh, probably the best meals we have had. The staff are fabulous so friendly and accommodating. Price wise excellent value for money. You can't book in advance and for an evening meal you need to get there about 6.30 for opening at 7pm. We are staying opposite so not a problem

This place was recommended to us by a local licensee and it did not disappoint. The place itself does not look much from the outside, but don't be put off. We had not booked and on arrival the place was packed, mainly with locals. However we got shown to a table almost immediately and the service was/is impeccable. As for the food simple and sublime, great anti pasta, tapas, superb cured meats galore and the best pasta we had all holiday.

We stayed in Sorrento for a week and ate a different suggested restaurant each night. This restaurant was easily our favourite, the food and atmosphere as well as the extremely accommodating staff were all fantastic. The restaurant doesn't take reservations so there's often a long queue outside, that being said the owner does provide glasses of wine and small bites to those waiting in line. The evening we were there it rained so the owner provided each family/couple waiting in line with their own umbrella too. The food is exceptional and well worth the wait if you need to queue, a must try when staying in Sorrento.

Imagine the dinner scene from Lady and the Tramp... We only had one night in Sorrento and I'm glad we dined here. As soon as I stepped in the door I could tell it was going to be good. The set up was very cool, nice and rustic. I've never seen ham joints hanging from the ceiling before so I was fascinated. I liked the fact that you could see all the ingredients freshly on display of what you're about to eat. It was like eating in a local delicatessen but in a classy way. Anywhere you have to queue for food would be good and we had to wait to be seated but totally worth it. We had the ham and cheese sharing platter and it was delicious. My boyfriend got the pasta with tuna and olives and I got the spaghetty vongole. We were super hungry and the food was so tasty and satisfying The menu wasn't too overwhelming and I can imagine everything on it would taste amazing. It was really good value money also. I would definitely go back and keep coming back until I've tried everything!
