Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Feels authentic, with Nonna manning the counter, lots of family memorabilia decorating the attractive small room. I had the lamb cutlets and roast potatoes (actually potatoes cooked in the lamb juices ) which was tasty.Lamb tastes much milder than ours at home, so more like...pork.Side dish of broccoli with almonds and garlic was good. Nice to be recommended a local restaurant that isn’t just geared up for tourists.Good value.More

This is just the kind of restaurant you hope to come across by chance when you're new to a foreign city. It's clientele is largely locals or people who know where to look. Hived off in a narrow street more or less in the city...centre it's a homely restaurant which has been run by the same family for generations. The food is genuine Neapolitan fare and not fussy at all. The atmosphere is heartwarming. The host is nice and attentive. Prices are incredibly affordable. Go there!More

Really nice little restaurant serving a great lunch. Lots of locals in there. Enough for vegetarians to get by (I had a cap tear salad with a side of courgette in garlic and vinegar which was AMAZING!) there’s also a mix plate for €10 with...1/3 pasta, 1/3 side dish and a sausage. Definitely worth goingMore

Great local food for an amazing price. Restaurant was packed with locals eating lunch and takeaway options also were available. Melt in the mouth eggplant parmigiana (my husband ate half and doesn’t like eggplant usually) great pasta and chicken dish and vegetable sides and wine...all for under €30. Too full for desert. Great hospitality and efficient service.More

I came to this place to try its famous pasta and potatoes but there was only one pasta dish on the menu. A bit upsetting but we ordered it anyway along with some sides and another main dish. The pasta was the best thing I...had my entire trip - great flavour, fresh pasta and bread to dip into the sauce. I don’t know what it was but it was incredible! We had sausages and broccoli too and that was good but the pasta stole my heart and we ordered another dish! You’ll find lots of locals and the owner has been cooking for years - he’s super nice and friendly and speaks good english!More

Never again. Meals are pre-cooked and warmed up in the micro-wave, even the grilled meat. Shameful to serve such poor quality food in Naples. Don’t waste your time and money here.

In a world of Naples where so many staff are rude, this restaurant is a delight. Family run. with pride. The food is unpretentious, but delicious. Great value. The staff are friendly & polite. A complete gem.

We visited la Cantina because we were keen to experience a restaurant in Naples that only provides lunch. It was recommended and we were not disappointed. When we arrived it was clear that there were regulars eating lunch and we looked to them for a...lead. There were a number of dishes of the day and we ordered combinations, including a deal of the day which was a collection of small portions of the dishes of the day - all very tasty and reasonably priced.More

A lovely small restaurant quite close to the famed archeological museum. We had high hopes. It was highly rated by TripAdvisor and the Guardian. My wife had octopus with peas. She is a seafood lover but was unimpressed. I had the lunch special; bread, pasta...of the day and sausage. Given all the hype I'd give this place another try but our first experience was okay, but no more.More

When we stumbled across this restaurant in a quiet street away from the madding crowds, we thought it was going to be a memorable meal, a real find... alas, it wasn't. The service was efficient but not warm. We ordered an antipasti. At €8 it...was very disappointing and overpriced. 4 olives, some small pieces of cheese, 2 tiny slices of grilled zucchini and 3 chiffon thin slices of ham on iceberg lettuce. We had had much better. My sausage with a broccoli like vegetable was very oily. My partner was happy with his roast lamb. I wouldn't recommend seeking out this restaurant for a meal.More

This lunch place is absolutely lovely and packed with locals. Be sure to reserve a table, as we saw 10+ couples be turned away. The aubergine parmigiana is one of the tastiest things I have ever eaten. The texture melted in my mouth and I...would eat that every day of my life if possible. I would turn vegetarian for this dish.More

We chose this restaurant out of our DK Naples book and have to say it provided a basic Italian lunch. Service was friendly and the use of our guide book was appreciated and the staff assisted with our limited Italian. We had eaten better for...the same price but for pasta and bread with water the meal cost 29 euros for two which is pretty standard. Lots of locals eat here during their lunch. We wouldn't choose to eat here again as ate at places that offered tastier fare.More

Sorry - I can't remember. My instinct says that there was not a gluten free range on the menu.
