I have enjoyed my evening in this place even though I do not speak Italian. It might be a little bit weird janna, but it is an excellent entertainment, very Italian. The waiters sang songs and we danced a lot. It felt like the whole place is a party of your close friends. Food was good and not expensive. I... More

Located in a Trasteverte area with lots of restaurants and bars. Very local place. There was kind of a life show in Italian with singing waiters and telling jokes, Italians were laughing, so I suppose they were funny. It is not a fancy place but if you want to feel the Italian vibe, go for it. The food was ok.

My partner and I visited Cencio La Parolaccia last night after an Italian friend's recommendation as well as the great reviews on trip adviser. The team were great fun; a singer sat playing the keyboard improvising song lyrics based around every set of guests. The waiters would grab the microphones and sing across the room Italian folk songs as well... More

A friend of a friend recommended a handful of restaurants in Trastevere and this was the first one to pick up the phone as it was Ferragosto. We were expecting a old school restaurant vibe but when they threw the silverware down on the table we knew we were in for something different. We definitely did not pay attention to... More

We've just come from this MARVELLOUS place. What an evening! Our Italian is awful but, nevertheless, we had the best time with these people. The food was lovely and after a bit of umming and ahing (our children are vegetarians) we just went with the flow and, food-wise, it was delicious and they miraculously accommodated our veggie kids. The atmosphere... More

My husband and I were just walking around the Trastevere area and we wanted to have dessert. We walked into this restaurant and asked if we could order dessert to takeaway. The host was extremely rude and said No right away! DO NOT EAT HERE! They do not appreciate tourists!

The restaurant was founded in 1941 by Mr and Mrs Vincent said "Cencio", and Renata de Santis who decide to join the traditional job of catering entertainment based on folk songs romanesche often seasoned with spicy terms.
The operation immediately met the favor of the public and so in 1951 the club officially took the name "La Parolaccia".
The restaurant is now run by the sons of Cencio and Renata who continue the family tradition.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
