We chose this place as it was close to our hotel in via Settembre. You have to walk down into the restaurant. They have a couple of tables located very near one another. They display the dissert upfront. The ambience is average but the service is good. The elderly man in white coat is an amazing salesman. Their soup is... More

This was my favourite restaurant on our trip. Not because the food was the best (although it was very good, homecooked type food). Not because the ambiance was the fanciest (it's very homey and friendly). It was the staff (I think they are the owners). They were so friendly and Italian and the place was so welcoming and warm. I... More

very pleasant dinning experience, attentive service, good value for money. For dinner, people start to come after 7:30. So as a tourist, if you arrive early, you may feel the place a bit empty.

Ate here on recommendations from RS travel guide. Would highly recommend this restaurant. Food was excellent and served quickly. The waiter was top notch and very helpful. Very pleasant and bright atmosphere. Was busy with locals which is a good sign.

Great restaurant near our hotel and wasn't too expensive either. This isn't the fanciest looking place but they serve great food and the service was good too. We really enjoyed our meals and loved that a litre of white wine was only €5!! Saved us quite a bit of money and had a lovely meal and as it is a... More

I only had a light dinner here: minestrone with rice and vegetables and a green salad with tomatoes. Both were delicious. The highlight was the service from the older gentleman who waited on me. A friendly man, he appeared to love his job and do it well. The setting is unremarkable but quiet, comfortable and relaxed. The only thing that... More

My friends and I ate here on our first day from what we read in Rick S.s Book. The restaurant is very good but not what he described. It has a nice menu and the food was very good. The best part of this restaurant is that the manager speaks English and is very accommodating to guest. Even though they... More

I wanted to experience some good home style Italian food-just by chance we decided to go in for something to eat since our hotel Embassy was across the street. I was very happy with my choice-yes decor is authentic italian-family owned-father and son serving with wife in kitchen helping/supervising. Must have-vegetable soup-any pasta/lasagna dish, fish and beef best taste during... More

Giovanni's is the place to go for food in Rome. Giovanni was there and gave us a complimentary glass of Proscecco. The food was the best we had in Rome. There were 7 of us and we had plenty of room. The staff was friendly and service excellent.

We ate here our last night in Rome at the recommendation of our hotel. It has been around since 1948 and is excellent. The service was great, food was delicious and the prices were very reasonable. My husband said it reminded him of his grandmother's kitchen--very homey. We had a great meal and enjoyed the staff and the ambience.

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighbourhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighbourhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighbourhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 20:00.
