This hostaria was highly recommended but it left us scratching our head. There was a quantity over quality mentality, and the service was very rushed and much more similar to an Italian restaurant you would find in the states. The food was very average, nothing stood out of being exceptional. Also, it was very very very hot and packed when... More

We visited here our first night in Rome. Definitely make reservations as they have about 8-10 tables. Delicious food!! The caprese salad came with a huge ball of buffalo mozzarella! We had two pasta dishes- both delicious! I would recommend to those in the area. Yummy, quaint and medium priced.

Small tables. Friendly staff. Great home cooked feeling. Great desserts. In a beautiful old part of town.

This was our last night in Rome, and we were well pleased with La Botticella. We especially liked the Carciofi all Giuda, which we both had for starters, We followed this with pasta dishes which were very good if not spectacular. The service was very attentive. It is located in a small alley just a hundred metres or so from... More

I had wanted to try this place for a while. It's a very short walk from the Church of Santa Maria in Trastevere but you have to search for it. Definitely worth it. The menu is based on Roman specialties--we had carciofi alla giudia (melt- in-your- mouth fried artichokes), spaghetti alla carbonara, but alas no room for the saltimbocca alla... More

We were lucky enough to have booked a table here on a Friday night. All eight of us had a fantastic meal, with super friendly service. The portions are huge so it may be worth sharing starters, unless you're very hungry! I would thoroughly recommend this fantastic restaurant.

We were lucky to be able to get a table. At first the owner said they were booked. Come back tomorrow. But we lucked out and she found a little table for 2. I didn't want to look at the menu. I just said, "just cook for us." She asked "meat or fish" we said fish and what we ended... More

For a highly rated restaurant, our experience was extremely disappointing. First off, the owner couldn't find our reservation, she had the wrong name, than stated that she had moved our reservation from 9p to 9:30p...we never recieved any note of this. By the way, the table that we sat at, was the same table that was empty and clear when... More

We each ordered appetizers and a pasta main course and brought home plenty of leftovers. My wife was very please with her fried artichoke hearts, and also said the Buffalo Mozzarella in my appetizer was the best she has ever sampled. My salt and pepper pasta came in a parmesan cheese bowl which was crisp and tasty. The service was... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
