Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Viva offers wonderful food, with a focus on seafood in downtown Rome. Amid so many generic tourist traps offering uninspired generic fare, Viva breaks the mold, offering innovative takes on classic Roman dishes, side by side with stunning seafood creations. Ate outside and all four of us were very impressed with both quality and quantity. The starters were substantial, and the sauces in particular with the pasta were fresh. The Zucchini flowers were delicate, and the smoked Marlyn was incredible, stuffed with avocado. Main course...of roast octopus was cooked to perfection. Good wine list and good service.More

We found the restaurant by chance during a long weekend trip to Rome. What a find!! The restaurant has smart, clean decor with well planned lighting and a calm welcoming atmosphere. The staff are attentive without being overpowering and obviously take a pride in what...they do. The food was superb- the tuna carpaccio a highlight for me. The amuse-bouche was a lovely touch and the different breads- made on the premises- complemented to perfection by the fruity olive oil, were delicious. The desserts were presented beautifully and were equally impressive. We were so impressed that we went back a second night-we knew we would not find better!!!More

Beautiful decor, modern, clean, comfortable environment, lovely lighting and bar. Really first class food, different but authentically Roman, beautifully cooked and presented. The salmon and shrimp starters were gorgeous, both raw but meltingly tender and marinated. Main dishes of squid and beef cheeks in chocolate...sauce both gorgeous. Pudding’s sumptuous. Tiramisu was light and creamy. The Sweet Mushroom was an absolute work of art which the chef should be applauded for. So beautiful it was difficult to destroy by eating but worth it as it was so delicious. A little more expensive than othe restaurants in the area but you really get what you pay for!More

For starters they didn’t have ANY bottled water, only filtered. A little strange to walk into an Italian restaurant rated by TA as $$$$ and not to find at least San Pellegrino. I ordered zuchini flowers with anchovies for starters which turned out to be...90% of tempura where it is hard to find a flower and one single anchovy lying in the top. For main course ordered spaghetti with shrimp. I was told that they would have a bot of sweet taste, but I didn’t expect to get such an unbalanced taste simply not pairable with shrimp. on the whole, simply surprised with high reviews here. evening meal wasted in Rome, never again.More

Three years after my first visit, I again experienced one of the best dinners in Rome, thanks to the creativity and quality of Viva's chef's dishes. Cooking and presentation with a massive dose of TLC. Appetizer zucchini in tempura with tomato powder, the guinea fowl,...and especially the smoked tuna under the glass bell jar is to kill for. The service is professional and knowledgeable. Viva Viva, not to be missed!More

I was in Rome for four days and staying at the Westin Excelsior. I searched Trip Advisor for restaurants within a quick walk from my hotel. I decided upon this restaurant for my first evening meal. Oh my! What a pleasure in all ways. First...of all, I was traveling alone and this restaurant accepts reservations for one person. I am from the SF Bay Area, and I have been declined a request for a solo reservation there, so I was delighted. Staff were so very friendly. I do not speak Italian and the fact that they all spoke perfect English was a relief. The menu given to me was also in English… no guessing! Staff were attentive but not intrusive. My first meal I enjoyed a Sea Bream Carpaccio to start. Exquisitely fresh! For my main course I chose Monk Fish… also very fresh and prepared so that it was moist and well seasoned. So happy was I, that I dined a second time. I started with Grilled Squid… tender! Perfect! For my main course, I chose the Carbonara Pasta accompanied by a side of Broccoli Rabe. Wines are available by the glass. I wanted a dry white wine and I was offered a choice from three. I accepted the wait person’s recommendation and was quite happy. No… I did not have dessert… serving portions are generous and I just could not.More

It was delicious from start (fried artichokes w/ cod puree) pasta was delicious, salad fabulous as was the wine service and phenomenal main course ( lamb rack and beef w/ gorgonzola puree. Sheer YUMMINESS! We...thought we were in Soho in NY and made a reservation to return in 3 days before we head back to NYC. Can’t wait….!!More

A pearl. Definetly worth a visit. My girlfriend and I visited the restaurant a late October evening. There were a couple of occupied tables in the restaurant and a soft atmosphere. The waitress who greeted and seated us was well-spoken and kind. My girlfriend suffers...from celiac-disease, but the kitchen had no problem making gluten-free meals for her. We were amazed by the freshness and power of the — on paper — simple dishes. We left with a smile on our faces, and our stomachs pleasantly full. There's a lot of "touristy" restaurants in Rome — restaurants that will charge you extra, claim to be this-and-that, but this one is not one of them. Although tourist-friendly, it is most definitely its own niche, serving real food with heart and soul. My best regards.More

Viva on the Via Sicilia lives up to its name, bringing new life to a number of classical Roman dishes while putting an elegant touch on more modern creations. Our party ordered a delicious combination of classics like pasta all'amatriciana and white ragu with rabbit...and friend artichokes, along with more modern offerings like spaghetti with swordfish and raw shrimps, along with paccheri and octopus. The cooking is superb. Ingredients are fresh. The chefs care to prepare food that is both delicious and beautiful to look at. Service is attentive and friendly. Overall, it was the best dinner during our one week stay in Rome. Rome is loaded with restaurants. Some are wonderful. Some are touristy. This one is superb!More
