We ate here twice. The food and wine are both great, and the owner is wryly amusing, making the evening both entertaining and special. Short walk from the Colosseum and Forum, where locals eat as well as visitors.

We loved this restaurant. The staff are friendly and the service is attentive. The food is very tasty and the prices are reasonable too. We had a lovely bottle of Chianti Classico too, which was delicious. I would definitely recommend a meal here and will return on our next visit to Rome.

We were wandering and came across Trattoria Melo. It was warm and welcoming and all the food was great. Authentic Italian food, reasonable prices and all hidden behind the forum in Rome. The hosts were friendly and happy to recommend options or adapt recipes to suit individual needs. So glad we happened upon this gem, would gladly visit again!

This place restored our faith as we had tried some pretty average food in other restaurants prior to visiting this wonderful family run trattoria. Service is efficient and the food is excellent. Don't expect fancy frills, just good tasty food in quaint traditional surroundings. Great place to go after the Colosseum for lunch. Just be aware they shut at 3pm...they... More

After the first day, one was losing faith in Rome. Day 2, heading to the Coliseum then to Melo, the smile has returned! This place was recommended and we was so glad we found it. It felt right, we was welcomed and the service was fast but relaxed, and as for the food? Mama Mia! Three courses including 1/2 bottle... More

This is a Sicilian family concern. Fresh and tasty food every single day. never a bad stomach or taste in 30 years we go there. Lovely antipasti, wide selection of pasta/rice dishes and excellent fish tho even the meat is very good. Go there and choose sicilian recipes not usual home fare. You'll be surprised how versatile veg can become!!

Had a really pleasant lunch here, they specialise in Sicilian cuisine, Veal excellent, Lasagne average, pleasant staff. Had the roasted vegetables as a starter to share, good suggestion by the Patron.

This is such an adorable restaurant, located about a 5 minute walk from the colosseum. Located at the top of a long set of steps, dark paneling, lots of character, attentive service, good food, I imagine it's been in business for decades. It was the perfect restaurant for our first meal in Rome. My son said his lasagne was the... More
