We happen upon this place because we noted that it still has people eating lunch and that was 2 pm. The hostess was very welcoming. She was a big factor on how ended up eating our late lunch there. Our waitress had a lot of tables to cover, the hostess was quick to respond and she was there to assure... More

Found this place after leaving the Vatican and what a nice respite it was from the Vatican crowds. My daughter and I both had pizzas. She enjoyed her white pizza and my star shaped pizza was excellent. We sat inside where it is quiet. I don't think this was a touristy place as we were the only English-speaking people there.... We had a celebratory dinner here and they were very accommodating. The staff was fun, Venerina came to say hi, and the food is quality. I really enjoyed the Saltimbocca. They also handle big groups and can serve family style. They have a wide variety of food options, including pizza.

This restaurant lies in the quaint streets that snake their way from the main thoroughfare leading to St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican. The streets are romantic and cobblestoned. All in all a beautiful place to find a restaurant. The restaurant is tourist friendly and the staff are well versed in locating your origin and cracking a friendly joke or... More

In Rome are much better restaurants than this one. Was not good choice for us. Ristorante Venerina looks old and food was poor. But it's free wifi there. Password on photo.

Location, that's all I can say. I somewhat regret not having walked a little bit farther to have lunch at some other type of restaurant on the other bank of the river. This one charges a 2€ service charge per person. Tiramisu will set you back 8€ and will not live up to expectations. The Pasta was not very good.... More

It's what you hope for - walking down a side street and stepping into a sidewalk restaurant that just feels good - and then you get delicious food and good friendly service! We had the bombollini (pasta, like a larger, shorter penne with bacon and pecorino) and thin crust margarita pizza - both delicious. We also had a salad -... More

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighbourhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighbourhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighbourhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
