Just around the corner from my hotel I stumbled across this restaurant on my first night in Rome. Returned many evenings after a long day doing the tourist stuff to a great warm welcome from the fantastic staff. Food was great Prices great Highly recommend this place

Ate outside at night with some friends, the staff were very attentive and there was a good vibe about he place. WE all ordered different meals and everyone was happy with their choices whist the wine was reasonably priced and off a decent quality although our first two choices were not available! At the end of the meal a huge... More

This was the worst Italian we have ever eaten. All the sauces were fake! Terrible pasta and the risotto was barely edible. We wanted authentic Italian and it couldn't be further from it!!! Hope this helps some other travellers!

The pasta and pizza in this restaurant was maybe the best we ate during our visit to Rome. The pasta tasted homemade and the sauce was amazing in the dishes we tried. The antipasti was also tasty although a little expensive at €12 without bread. We visited this restaurant twice we enjoyed it so much. However the only thing that... More

If you want to waste money - go there. This restairant have italian name and on the menu you have big italian flag. Why they need to do it? Because you will not have true fair italian food. Typical touristic place. We ordered just small 2 dish to understand that this restaurant gives fake food. Half bread bruscheta without olive... More

Went with a group of four friends, the grilled chicken breast had no seasoning at all. The parmigiana portion was small and lacking Parmesan cheese. The risotto was also lacking seasoning. Would not recommend this place if someone asked me.

Good food and probably the nicest staff in Rome. Cozy atmosphere, nice music, great wine and desserts. The only downside can be the fact that it gets quite cold in the room with the doors, so bring a sweater or ask to be seated in the other room.

La taverna is small restaurant in Rome, but don't be deceived as they serve amazing food. Had the seafood pasta and enjoyed it to the last bit. The pasta is cooked to perfection. We had the pizza too and we are amazed on how different they make it. The waiters are very attentive. Even recommended their the best wine according... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
