After traveling around Europe tasting all sorts of food. My recent trip to North and South Italy adventure includes food tasting. From Michelin fine dining to streets food. Though not disappointed by what I tasted in those regions. I have to say Osteria 44 again...hit the cords when it comes to food beating all the ones I’ve been. It is indeed one of Italy top/best restaurants when it comes to authenticity and taste. With its new menus. I had to return to Rome to dine and have their excellent meal before I head back to the state and see it for myself if it still has that excellent service and food from my last visit. It exceeded it. Sergio again trained his staff well to provide great service and knowledge about the menus. The restaurant expansion includes 2nd open floor giving it more beautiful ambiance. I did 5 courses tasting with wine pairing. It was beautifully presented and the taste was beyond my expectations especially the duck dish. The dessert was out of this world. Very unique. Chef did a very fine job. This is definitely Italian food with particular ingredients. Not typical tourist meal and very tasty. Though it is not a Michelin stars yet. It sure deserves a visit to start earning one. I’ve been to many Michelin restaurants that earned its stars by making food look like art pieces. I can assure you not all of them had to be or is that way. This restaurant is a must visit when in Rome if you want to taste the quality of that without the overly high price. In fact-the food here taste better than some Michelin restaurants I’ve visited and not write about. That being said. Come hungry, open mind, no expectations, and be surprise. For those negative reviews. I don’t think these people travel much or tasted many Italian food. Most whiners complained about price, cc delayed, and over sell. You are in Italy not fast food… A lot of restaurants in Italy present their menus with details and suggestions. It’s call good hospitality. Very common in fine dining all over the world. If you don’t want anyone talking to you. Leave your miserable self at home. To see especially American who travel to Europe and act very snobby. A behavior of a nobody pretending to be somebody in a different country makes other American embarrass and look bad. People who are important and wealthy don’t behave that way. They are very humble. Stay home don’t visit outside country. Stop humiliating yourself. Who brag about staying at the St.Regis on a restaurant review lol (that’s pretentious). Wrong platform! Be happy the owner even talks to you and the staff is attentive. In many places around the world, they don't even acknowledge your present or serve you with bad attitude. Enjoy your journey and respect the Italian culture, food, and wine. You can request half portion if planning to taste few dishes. Ask the staff. There is also tasting menu. Overall, I highly recommend this place for maintaining its great service and food just keep getting better. The owner- Sergio knows what he’s doing and keeping his staff in check to bring the best service to his patrons. Well done.More

In a lovely location, a lovely and professional performance by Margarita who made our evening, setting the tone for a delightful dinner experience. The food was a culinary delight, each dish showcasing a perfect blend of ingredients all being really fresh. However, the owner’s presence...was a bit overwhelming, occasionally bordering on overbearing. While his passion for the restaurant was evident, it might have been more enjoyable with a slightly lighter touch. Nonetheless, his commitment to quality was undeniable, and it contributed to the overall positive atmosphere, (Margarita being a super start) Overall great evening with great food.More

Last night in Rome spoiled by arrogant owner who berated the waitress and told us not to leave a tip when we complained about the food. The cacio è pepe was barely warm, and had no flavor or pepper. Carbonara was mediocre. Veal saltimbocca was...dry and too salty. Insisted we try the semi freddo for dessert. It was grainy and frozen solid. Skip this place.More

This was not our first time, nor will it be our last. Osteria 44 is “fine dining” — lunch or dinner. This is “the place” where Via Veneto Italians go. You will find helpful service, good wine and good food — what more can one...ask for?Chiara’s recommendations can be relied on at lunch as can Sergio’s at dinner. Both speak excellent English. The Via Veneto is a welcome respite from the excitement of “downtown,” and Osteria 44 is a relaxing refuge from the frenetic pace that Rome can exemplify. Highly recommend! This oasis of peace and tranquility.More

What an amazing time my dear family had experiencing the exquisite dining atmosphere, food, and wine that the owner, Sergio, had presented to them. I completely and totally recommend this restaurant for its warm hospitality, for the owner treating you as family, and for the...service that was rendered. If you are in Rome, do not miss the opportunity that this Restaurant and Sergio have to offer. My family after being in Italy for 2 1/2 weeks said that this was the best meal of the whole trip.More

Landed here on a Sunday evening for a quick dinner after spending all day traveling. To be honest after having read the review, I had set my expectations higher that what this place could really deliver. Attentive staff and interesting menu. However note that it’s...far from being a real Osteria from Roma and closer to an international restaurant target to cater for the busy area ( hint ) . 12 eur for a glass a Pinot Grigio is a good price to charge tourist and only those. Risotto with artichokes was good.More

This place was recommended by our hotel. We were a bit hesitant given the not so great reviews but the menu looked decent so we decided to give it a try. The owner/host was friendly but not as imposing on us as others have indicated....We were given a small glass of Prosecco to start. Wines were okay - red wine was served warm (we love wine so drink it often and know how it should be served). And when I say warm, I mean warm. Like it had been sitting on a shelf near the kitchen. Food was mostly good - artichoke salad was decent, caprese salad not great. Pastas were all tasty. Friendly waitstaff.More

This is my second visit to 44 Osteria Quarantaquattro. I met the owner, Sergio, on the first occasion, and made certain that we visited again when I came to Rome with my wife and daughter at the end of July 2023. From start to finish,...one of the best meals and dining experiences on our European holiday. Sergio makes you feel like family and checks in at the beginning of nearly every course. We ordered the artichoke salad and the grilled octopus. I'm glad no one in my family likes octopus because it was outstanding, perfectly grilled with a potato and picked vegetable accompaniment. It was gone in a flash! Sergio chose our Rosato wine from the Piedmonte region, which nicely matched our various courses (including beef). We next had the pasta pesto dish and the cacio de pepe (and shared them amongst the three of us). The pasta was cooked expertly and the sauces were delicious: not overwhelming (very creamy and delicious). As the main dish, we selected the beef filet with vegetable; cooked medium just as requested, with vegetables. We shared the beef, but I could have easily tacked it single-handedly. Such a good cut and very tasty. No meal can end in a fine restaurant without great dessert. Sergio sent us three mini tiramisus (which were fantastic), a creme brulee and a pistachio semifreddo. We knocked these dishes out like pros---each had a distinctive personality and sweetness, but were individual in their tastes and pleasures. Finally, we had a lemoncello each and rolled out of the restaurant with broad smiles, pictures with Sergio and a taxi waiting to take us back to our apartment. A perfect evening, in a perfect restaurant. We will be back every time we go to Rome. AND, Sergio is a big music fan, so he "blasted" the Rolling Stones in honor of Mich Jagger's 81st birthday. How much better can it get? Love this place. We shared a wonderful memory and experience together as a family, just as a good restaurant should provide.More

Yes! My mom is gluten-free and they provided gluten-free pasta for her and the waiter was very helpful in terms of pointing out which dishes she had to avoid.
