A great place for a drink after a meal. Quiet, cosy, good music and a warm welcome. Plus the desserts are simple and delicious. Good cocktails too!

My boyfriend and I stumbled across this hidden gem whilst wandering around. It is super cozy and serves a good selection of alcohol, plus a huge collection of Loose leaf tea which you can purchase to take home with you also. The venue is intimate but casual and gives off a great vibe, the guy who seems to run it... More

Welcome relief in an unexpectedly rainy day in Rome. More important, an OASIS from the crowds during a visit to Vatican City. Bypass everything on the main road and head here. I ordered Brushette and veal meatballs for lunch with a lovely glass of the house red.

We just stopped here for a drink as we'd already eaten dinner but really enjoyed the atmosphere and lovely setting in this place. Had a glass of very nice wine, would like to return for food

This was a great place to sit and enjoy the company of family. Wine bar and beer, music and relaxed atmosphere. For a date night or friends night out. Great evening.

Every once in a while, a real treasure comes along. In the case of Makasar, a tranquil spot around the corner from the queues and bustle of the Vatican crowds. Massimo, owner and host is welcoming, passionate and personable. Little freebies come along with your wine (common in most of Italy but something of a rarity in Rome so far)... More

Personnel accueillant, plats simples et délicieux - on sent l'amour du cuisinier pour les produits italiens , environnement calme après la foule au Vatican ... Un vrai régal pour les papilles et les yeux. A perfect place for a perfect moment! Delicious dishes, pleasant place - small terrace that you have never seen abroad - and welcoming people. We can... We happened to walk in front of this place and had the impulse to go in. So glad we did! Laid back atmosphere with delicious food and great service. I like making tiramisu at home, so whenever I see it on the menu I'll try it. I think their tiramisu is the best I've had in Italy, maybe anywhere. The... More

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighbourhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighbourhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighbourhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
