The restaurant is well located and we were taken in by the cheap pizza. You get what you pay for! The pizza was small and underwhelming and the portion of fries we ordered separately was pitifully small. In the end we paid around 30 euros between us for a meal and a drink. Slightly to the north west there appeared... More

we were a group of 56 people on a pilgrimage to Rome . We ate for 5 nights in the Marcello as part of an agreement and the price per person was very very reasonable when you consider Rome is so expensive . We had a 3 course meals with 3 choices per course with either white/red wine . In... More

Places like this should NOT be open! Service is poor and food of a very bad quality. We ordered Tiramisu, which was about a week old, and fruit salad, which was nothing more than unpeeled, whole fruits placed on top of a bowl with ice below. The peach was literally rotten underneath and when we complained, the owners attitude was shocking... More

Lovely food at a reasonable price so near the Vatican. Service friendly and slightly ironic. The special tagliatelle fungi was really delicious as were the pizzas. Street dining at its best.

we ordered gnocchi and capricciosa pizza. the gnocchi was very good, the pizza was okay. the waiter was professional, old-style, but not very caring. his greeting was not very kind too. in the end he was helpful with the credit card, as their machine was malfunctioning.

After a long day of touring Rome decided to have dinner at this outdoor cafe. Was there June 8, 2016. Best lasagna ever and the bottle of red wine was very nice.

We visited this restaurant on a Sunday after the Pope's address to the public. We only stopped at Marcellos because he had tripe on the menu and my uncle from Croatia wanted to eat only tripe! We were a group of five people. We ordered lasagna, a vegetable soup, a caprese salad, a pizza, scamorza cheese and of course tripe!... More

The problem with this restaurant is that the staff is really bothered by customers and lets you know it. It is huge but it was empty this day and I suspect it will always be empty. The food is actually good but they really don't care about the customers.

This was a horrible experience. The service was bad, the food was awful, we were overcharged. The worst part was that my son felt really sick after lunch here and had a stomach ache for the rest of the day. There are so many wonderful restaurants in Rome- this is NOT one of them.

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighbourhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighbourhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighbourhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
