Even though we hadn’t made a reservation on a very busy Valentine’s Day night, the friendly staff got us a table. The food came quick and this was by far the most delicious Roman meal we had during our stay. It was cooked to perfection...More
My daughter and I visit Rome every other year and stay in Trastevere. Our B&B recommended Antico Carlone several years ago for the pasta carbonara. We also enjoy the atmosphere as there are families, older and younger couple and large and small groups. Our first...More
Carbonara is absolutely the best in Rome, look out for tiny bones in the meat, though! Huge portions, one is enough for 2 hungry adults! The service is good, a little slow. Authentic Italian cuisine at a very fair price.
What a lovely evening we had tonight. He food was amazing (especially the carbonara). The portions are huge so order family style. The waiter was so great with our two year old son. There was also live music that was very nice. Just a wonderful...More
Finally! A reprieve from the super-hip, attitude-ridden restaurants in Trastevere! This place has a professional, attentive, and friendly staff and a local clientele. Ok we had an interesting experience at Da Carlone - We stumble upon this place at dinner time by accident and realised they’re known for their Carbonara so we decide to head in to try it. When we sit I say “how are you” to...More
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable
eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
