Stopped inside for lunch on a rainy day after Wednesday Papal audience. Food was excellent. We had saltimbocca... lovely. Red wine very good too.

We had the lasagna and pasta carbonara along with the house wine. The wine was passable but the lasagna was average at best and not properly cooked, undercooked and one end, burned at the other. The carbonara was very salty with a few pieces of cooked bacon..

There is certainly better food in via borgo. Only for the desperate. House wine was also pretty average. In short: try your luck elsewhere.

This restaurant was around the corner from our hotel. We stopped in for lunch outside prior to venturing out for the day. They had a lunch special which included a generous size portion of pasta of your choice, a glass of wine/water and dessert for 12 euro per person. The service was great as well. I would definitely come here... More

The pizza based was not really good and not cooked well. Pasta bolognez was allright. Service and location was great though. Please improve your pizzas and i am sure you will do better in future. Regards

This is more about the staff, and the drink. We only had beer, and at that it was very nice beer indeed, German and Italian for the most part, and fairly priced too, a 500ml bottle of Erdinger reaching 5 euros, which seemed very good in comparison to most other places. The bar looks nice too, with lots of variety.... More

Went for dinner here. Two of the meals (steak)..came out wrong. Return the food. They came out the second time, steak looked grey & tasted vile, asked them to take it away..then got a mouthful of cheek from the owner.

Very close to the vatican, wich is a okis. But the food was terrible, and my french fries were heated wich makes it taste just nasty! The rest was ok and so is the prive.

Had pastas for lunch, wine, prosecco, beer etc all very good. Great number of vegetarian options as well. Atmosphere on borgo pio is great, very relaxed. Waiter was very sweet and friendly. Price for two main pastas, dessert and three drinks for 22 euros was beyond worth it. Highly recommend.

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighbourhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighbourhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighbourhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
