Had breakfast in the morning and drinks in the evening. Wonderful location to watch people go by and street artists perform in feont of the door.

Stopped in this place on a wander around Trastevere; nice place to stop for a beer, very friendly staff and impromptu street performances made for a longer than planned pit stop

This was our second stay in Trastevere, and this was our local hangout. Great location to watch the "show". Cozy place, but that's the problem--often very difficult to get a seat outside. Ah, the price of popularity. Good drinks--we alway order Mojitos.

We use this bar for morning coffee as it is close to our accom. Great coffee and amazingly fresh pastries etc in the morning. Only downside is getting a seat outside at this very popular local.

The restaurant we had picked did not open until 7pm so we were forced to have a second aperitif :) This lovely little bar in a tiny square well triangle! Friendly with good service and while we were there there was opera in the square.

Delightful little cafe frequented by the locals. Perfect for people watching, with very friendly staff. We only had cold neats and cheese, but all the food looked very good. Certainly, worth stopping for a coffee or a beer !!

A nice place for just a cup of coffee, or a small snack. Almost hidden in the small streets of Trastevere, but worth a stop if you find it! Here you can relax together with both locals and tourists. Many of the locals eat breakfast here. In the evening the bar changes into a place for a good glass of... More

Our favourite bar in the Trastevere. A great place to meet up with or make new friends, sit and watch the people go by, any time of day. Pleasant staff who have been there for years, reasonable snacks and a wide variety of drinks and coffees.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
