We walked by the Al Fontanone former location this morning and feel a profound sense of loss at the closure of one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. Fontanone was on our list of must eat locations on our annual trips to Rome over the past...More

Al Fontanone is no more. Pino has retired. Will miss him. For me, Rome will not be Rome. This was a grassroot eating establishment. I feel old and lost.

Arrived Saturday night with six people instead of the five we'd reserved for. The place was a typical Saturday night madhouse but they did their best to fit us in. Food is hearty Roman fare -- bruschetta, fried artichokes (fab), ossobuco, etc. All was decently...More

Tried many restaurants during our stay in Trastevere and nothing at this restaurant really stood out from the rest. Nothing superbly flavourful. Mostly forgettable dishes. Nothing overtly wrong but I wouldn't go back.

Tucked behind the plaza is this restaurant with a lovely outdoor setting. This is where we camped on a beautiful fall night in Rome. We were greeted by mine host (who had left before we finished so I couldn't get his name). This gracious old...More

If you want to enjoy a typical Roman dinner with the staff talking 'Romanaccio' (Roman dialect) to you, then you are in the right place! Tasty and home made dishes, wonderful fried zucchini flowers and cacio and pepe.

I started coming to the restaurant back on the 80s on the way back from doing documentary films in Africa. I finally met Pino the owner. My god what a human and what wonderful food. This is a down to Earth,no BS, Trattoria. He's been...More

Great food! Was served by Pino who is a true gentleman and a very experienced waiter (over 50 years). I felt like at home un this restaurant... will go back again.

Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded
postcard, a little worn around the edges but still
charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering
streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and
overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible
mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of
entertainment - a rotating set of street performers
entertains almost every night, and unforgettable
