I'm a bit disappointed in myself that I waited until my last night in Rome to dine at Spirito Divino, especially since it was only steps away from where I was staying. I was an early diner, which was nice because I got to talk with the owner and his son (who both spoke English very well). They shared a... More

We visited this restaurant as part of a food tour through Trastavere. We went down to the wine cellar which part of has been excavated and discovered as a very old Jewish synagogue several layers down from modern Rome. Steeped in history and a real treat. The food tasting and wine was exquisite. Family run business.

I was fortunate to have a wine tasting in the cellar- which dates back to the first century! Great wine selection and top-notch food.

If you are looking for authentic Italian food, great wine list, and super ambiance - this is your place. Try the pasta with olives, or the "roman style" pork - amazing.

This hidden gem (we got lost getting there) is family run. They welcome you and visit often during the meal. Mom cooks the dinner and she is a fabulous cook! The restaurant is above an ancient ruin that they use for the wine cellar and they invite you to have a glass of wine and enjoy the history. It was a... More

Had a lovely dinning experience with my wife here in October. Very good quality food, locally sourced and freshly prepared. Run by father and son in front of house with mother in the kitchen. Excellent selection of wine. Booking is a must. Paid €130 for a 3 course meal for two with wine. Worth every penny.

A very friendly welcome by the owners, excellent quality of the truly homemade food, and great, attentive service. A very cozy place, where you feel at home while enjoying a fantastic meal. The wine cellar, older than the Coliseum, is worth a visit, just a few steps down from the restaurant.

Spirito Di Vino came highly recommended by our concierge, who is real Roman foodie. She is really into the "slow food movement" and said that they do it really well. It is run by a family that really cares about the food and wind they serve and create a great and welcoming atmosphere. I was there a week ago on... More

I want to thank the owners of Spirito di Vino for serving my family one of the most memorable meals we ate in Italy. We truly felt like family dining at this local gem. Everything we ate was absolutely delicious. The savory pumpkin cake with gorgonzola cream sauce was a particular favorite. But the real highlight of this dinner was... More

Anyone who can make a 'simple' carbonara and creme brûlée taste this good is a true artisan! Grazie mille la cuoca. We loved our meal with you and will be back again next time we're in Rome.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
