A group of 20 of us had lunch here in late February, 2017. The tables were already set for us, and the prepared menu came out at a nice clip, with lots of food (four courses) for 30 euros a head. The antipasti (mixed vegetables), pasta, and meat (pork) were all good. Vegetarians in our group made out perhaps especially... More

We went after a tour of the catacombs. The catacombs were meh, but the area, and particularly the grounds of this restaurant are breathtaking. Up on a sunny hill with statues and castles and perfect ambiance, Paolo's restaurant is surprisingly moderately priced for the best food we had our whole trip. And Paolo is so friendly and interesting! Get the... More

We've been living in Rome for over a year now. We're already bored of places where they rip off tourists, or where they simply don't care about offering honest food and service. This is clearly not the case. This family run restaurant, despite its touristic location (along the Via Appia Antica, thus a place where you go to "hunt" ruins... More

Absolutely love this place. This was our first time and we loved the experience. The food was fantastic, we took all of our host's recommendations and they were great! Do not miss an opportunity to have lunch or dinner here and ask about the Tiramisu story!

We had lunch here after visiting the catacombs of St Calixtus. Paulo picked us up from the restaurant's old address and drove us back to the new location, seated us in a beautiful garden beneath the tomb of Cecilia, brought us glasses of Prosecco and told us he would look after the food for us. And he did. First we... More

The food was delicious. The service was welcoming. A great location for lunch after walking along the old Via Appia from Rome, admiring the numerous columbaria and other ancient remains. Let Massimo choose the food. You will not be disappointed.

We have visited this excellent restaurant on our walking along appia antica. I am not a food historian but eating our lunch on the first (proper) road ever built was truly exciting. We were told about the rich history behind the place and continuing tradition and presented with a nice portrait after the meal. There is a small museum sort... More

The idea of dinning in a Roman ruin is exciting, particularly in what could be a charming terrace. There's a convenient parking place for guests, which is something unusual in Roman restaurants. The host is very friendly and suggested us the menu. Last time it was antipasti and lamb as the main course. In a different occasion I had had... More

For a couple of years now, my wife and I have been wanting to eat at my friend Paolo's restaurant. For one reason or another, we had to cancel each time. This past weekend we were meeting friends in Roma and decided it was the perfect time to give it a whirl so I contacted Paolo. Upon our arrival, we... More
