We decided to visit based on its rating on TripAdvisor and we weren't disappointed. It was very quiet on a Tuesday evening in January but still the staff were very welcoming. We were given Prosecco upon being seated with menus. I ordered Penne Arrabiatta and my husband ordered Spaghetti with Pancetta. The portions are very generous, and after a late... More

Romantica is an old-fashioned, cosy restaurant and friendly staff. I came here a few times for my morning coffee as my accommodation was very close to the restaurant. I remember they have an "all you can eat" breakfast for 10€ (or 15€), you might find great value in that if you are accustomed to large breakfasts, I'm not. One night... More

Walked here from the Hotel Coleseum. The walk was well worth it. The food was fantastic . I had the carbonara that was fantastic and my wife had the gnocchi that had a fantastic sauce! One of our sons had the penne with salmon and the the other had the 4 flight meal. We just complained how much we were... More

We were staying close by Romantica and fancied staying local for a light dinner on our last night. I wish we had discovered this place sooner. It was old-fashioned-cosy, the food was tasty and a fare price. The wine list looked expensive with fine wines, but I asked for half a bottle of house red, it was superb and reasonable.... More

Really nice decor--lots of choices--even some set menus--however if going for dinner don't eat lunch if lunch don't eat breakfast huge potions--our waiter started off a bit stiff but came around

Pizza crust was burnt (burnt segment could be eaten around), cheese in the spaghetti dish was burnt (the whole dish tasted burnt and unpleasant). Tiramisu tasted as if it was made from expired products. Waiter was quite nice, but forgot to offer the dessert (that was part of the order). Wouldn't visit twice. (Even once, if I could turn back... We have been here once before and decided to return as it was so nice the first time. The food tastes very fresh and seems authentic (we're english). The staff took good care of us despite becoming extremely busy, we arrived at 7pm and from about 7.30pm it became very busy with all tables occupied. We would return and recommend.

this place was recommended by staff @ the ROMA RESORT COLOSSEUM for dinner but what a letdown. my husband and i each had a pizza but i swear these were the frozen ones by dr. oetker which would have been fine if they were only 3 bucks but at 8/9/10 euros.....GROSS. so glad we didn't take the other recommendation of... Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
