Very close to the towers. Big portions and good gelato. Try the Samurai and salty caramel. There are no tables with chairs inside or outside.

The gelato was okay, but definitely not nearly as good as the other places we tried in bologna. We all found it rather foamy and inauthentic. Spend your money at Cremaria Santo Stefano or Il Gelato di San Crispino and get some of the best gelato, maybe the best, in the world.

And there is nothing really to add to that. I revisited yesterday after vaguely recalling that I had had ice-cream on that corner 4.5 years before. I cannot remember if it is exactly the same place or if the ownership changed, but the ice-cream is super good.

This was really good gelato. I appreciate the variety of flavours. They even posted how many calories each flavour had.

You'll see a lot of Gelateria around Bologna. It is one of the oldest traditions around here. But Gianni is one of the best, it is not the best. Try vanilla (yellow one) and chocolate flavours. You'll see a lot of choices and at least a few of them will be for you. By the way, I think it has... More

'The best gelato in Bologna, perhaps the best in Italy.!' An elderly local gentleman told us so with pride, when we were studying Gianni's menu. Different from any other gelateria we have been to, Gianni offers flavors that are 'designed'. They don't just sell single 'chocolate' or 'vanilla', but provide a truly long list of combinated flavors. One flavor that... More

As soon as we parked in Bologna we went to Gianni. After a few hours on our departure from Bologna we went to Gianni again. This clearly shows the quality of their icecream!

If you are here to visit Bologna, you have to know that this amazing city is known all over the world for its food and after a plate of tortellini or lasagne, nothing is better than enjoy a delicious ice-cream in front of the two towers. I recommend to try the flavours "pistacchio", "ricotta stregata" and "mare d'inverno".
