Da Danilo - via Caltellini 31, 12:00-3:00, 7:00-12:00, closed on Sunday. Reservations are strongly recommended, 059225498 This place is very popular by the locals. Gnocco fritto e salumi is an traditional Modena appetizer, square deep fried pasta with meat cuts. The proper way to eat it is to fold the meat cuts in the fried pasta The food is very... More

Recently went here after staying in Modena for 10 days. My friends ordered a soup and the tortellini with ricotta and spinach, and I ordered the gnocchi with red sauce. My friends thought their meals were alright, but my gnocchi was 3 minutes overcooked and had the consistency of mashed potatoes. When I sent the meal back, I told them... More

Modena is not the most beautiful or exciting of places to visit but it has a culinary gem called da Danilo. We found this place by chance by the flavour of the food is still on my lips. The restaurant has a traditional feel to it but offers a mix of modern and classic dishes. The roast suckling pig rates... More

We wanted typical Emelia-Romania cuisine and the hotel confirmed that this restaurant served exactly that. It is two small rooms and a terrace, but the terrace is the smoking section. We selected a table inside. We had terrific service from a server who seemed to know most of the other dinners. We shared an arugula salad, with balsamic vinegar. What... More

Been there for dinner. Typical local food, everything was very tasty. The staff was friendly and welcoming and the service was excellent. Great risotto with vegetables.

It's very clear to me that the typical cuisine of this region does not include much for vegetarians, but the staff should be more available to accommodate the customers' needs if they cannot eat meat. A lady sitting at a table close to us complained about a a dirty glass - it happens, but the reaction of the staff was,... More

Food was excellent-- tortellini in balsamic sauce was outstanding as was Bonita with sauces. Our waiter (Brian) offered advice, a trip to the kitchen and brought us samples of a very aged balsamic vinegar to taste. Couldn't have been more pleased with our meal!

We went here for lunch and had a warm welcome from the staff. A lot of locals were here for lunch and it is a busy place but despite this, the service we received was excellent. We tried the fillet steak in balsamic vinegar and the trio of meat platter. The steak was excellent and cooked exactly to my requirements.... More

On a rainy night, when all the restaurants seemed full, the kindly patron squeezes us in and handed us over to a fantastic waiter. The antipasto di verdure was perfectly cooked and the lasagne and tortelloni with sage butter were both delicious although the restaurant specialises in meats, which we didn't try. The atmosphere was cosy and bustling without being... More

We came here on the recommendation of our b&b. The service was fine. The food (rucola salad, verdure griglia, crespella con tartuffo) was fine but not exciting. We enjoyed for the most part but didn't find it outstanding.
