We wandered to this part of Modena in hopes of buying some foodstuffs to take home but, and we should have known, being Monday it was closed. We opted instead to pop in to this cafeteria/bar for some refreshments and some nibbles. We sat outside as it was a hot day and we waited for a few minutes until finally... More

This characterful caffè is just off Piazza Roma. It is quite traditional in feel and decorated in the style of an old pharmacy (hence the name). There is a good selection of pastries and bread on offer during the morning. I found it a good place for a quick breakfast.

Unfortunately, Cafeteria Drougheria Giusti was the first place we stopped at in Modena; I would never go back, even though we passed it many times. Keep walking toward Piazza Grande and you will find many osteria, cafes, bars where you can get good food, with good service at a reasonable cost, none of which was our experience here.

First, it has to be said that this little wine-bar has nothing to do with Salumeria Giusti which is located on the same street. This is a former chemist's shop, well preserved with wooden furnishing, small like shops usually are, on the corner of Via Farini and the square in front of the Ducal Palace. Thanks to this fact the... More

We stopped by for a glass of wine before dinner and sat at a tall table outside. Before we knew it the inside, sidewalk and street were jammed with people talking and drinking. I'm not sure if this is just typical of all of Italy but everyone was very sharply dressed for the evening. We enjoyed the energy and ended... More

Having some spare time, I bought some selections of chocolate....simply superb ! There are different choices, some really gorgeous, like the chili pepper .... A little bit expensive, but it's worthwhile !

As is typical of Italy the locals hit the bars before dinner to have an aparitivo and a snack before dinner. We had a Lambrusco which came with a tray of snacks. Chips, peanuts, mini pizza and more. If satisfied your immediate need for food. The place gets pretty full around 18:00 so it's wise to come a little earlier... More

My wife and I stopped here for just some beers but then our server helped us select a very nice lunch. She explained what they had and asked what we liked. In the end, we selected a salad which we shared and a meat platter. She also helped us choose a couple bottles of local beer. It was all good!... More

We stopped off here for a quick glass of Lambrusco. We had a nice position outside watching Modena walk by. The waitress was very understanding of the nut allergy and brought out crisps, olives and pizza. All for only 10 euro with 2 glasses of wine (standard price for central modena). Would return again for wine.
