Very peculiar place , but it is an icon of the town ... funny service, you can eat your sandwiches standing outside or inside sometimes in a crowded place. But great sandwiches..

The local doesn't look like the fancy one but the food is really, really good. The various "paninos" they serve are incredibles and originals. There are also other typical products which are wonderful as well!

I added Pepen to my travel itinerary thanks to the great reviews it had on TA, but to my surprise found out it wasn't your typical sit-down restaurant... It's more akin to a $1/slice NYC pizza joint but with amazing Italian sandwiches crammed with great meats instead. > walk in > order (they speak english) > try and get one... More

No idea what I ordered but it was great!! Counter staff were friendly and spoke English. My only regret is being too full to try the rest of the menu

I can still rember with joy when I was 5 or 6 and I used to go in Parma for buying clothes (outlet at that time doesn't exist....) and I was bored of that , exept that in the end we would go to Pepen!!!! That made an happy child!!! Now I'm 40 and still go as often as I... More

Pepen appears to be sandwich central in Parma. High speed sandwich production with lots of banter if you speak Italian. Even if you don't, staff are helpful. Surprised about the 60's sexist calendar behind the counter. Ladies might be offended! Raw horse meat sandwich filling will probably get you galloping but lots of other traditional fillings available. Maybe not the... More

A great place to grab an amazing sandwich. We tasted several things from the menu and all was super tasty. Bear in mind that there are only few seats in the restaurant and that there is a long line to the cashier, and then you'll need to push your way to the counter were they prepare the sandwiches. As a... More

Slightly confusing ordering system for the uninitiated. Don't queue at the counter - go to the guy on the right, order your sandwich (and an arancini and excellent glass of local wine to consume while you wait), pay, get a ticket which you then take to the counter to order your sandwich. Well worth the effort as the panini are... More

It always a great pleasure to eat at Pepen; arancini, tuna sandwiches and carciofa :-) The staff are really funny and their jokes are great, the place at lunch time is really crowed and you may wait for a bit but it worths the time considering the tasty sandwiches.

Thank M A
