Il Violino was a terrific choice & came recommended from mutual sources. It’s within spitting distance of the Cathedral but isn’t a touristy affair. The offer is either a tasting menu or a la carte & the menu was helpfully translated to English. The lunch...offer was concise but more more extensive than that shown on the website. In addition to the charming interior dining room, there is a handful of tables on a small fenced-off terrace at the front. Service was faultless from smartly clad & polished but friendly wait staff. You know you’re in for a treat when the homemade bread & whipped butter is so good that the visit is worth it for that alone. A tasty amuse bouche presaged beautifully presented, accomplished dishes, expertly flavoured. Their tiramisu didn’t do it for me, but came imaginatively presented in an ice lolly shape. Overall then, a superb experience, & surely one of Cremona’s best.More
The restaurant is located just a stone's throw from the Cremona’s cathedral and the babtistery. To be honest, I found it by accident wandering through the streets of Cremona. This restaurant is a hidden gem. You can sit in the air-conditioned room inside or on...the veranda which is gently cooled by the breeze so there is no way you will feel tired even on a hot day ! The menu is not big but it is unique and you can also choose between 3 tasting menus - which differ in concept, type of dishes and of course in price. In addition, for an additional charge, you can pair each dish with a wine. I chose the author's menu for 75euros. And it was a culinary orgasm. From start to finish, everything was consistent and the taste experience was amazing. Two dishes in particular impressed me the most: the marinated onions in photo no. 2 and the risotto with black garlic and courgette in photo no. 4 (you could not smell the garlic or taste the courgette !!). Finally there was the cafe gourmand - what I adore a lot - lots of tiny desserts accompanied by espresso :-) Perfect service was provided by Giovanni, who narrated the following dishes with extraordinary grace and knowledge. Responsible for creating this menu were: Francesco Rozza and Lorenzo Zagni- gentlemen I salute you! Chapeau bas à vous!More
This restaurant is a hidden jewel! I never expected to find such a good restaurant by chance. We decided to stop at Cremona on our way to Parma, and decided to come in based on other reviews and was not disappointed! Everything in this restaurant...is excellent. The ambiance, the decor, the service and the food. It’s probably the best restaurant I’ve ever been too.More
Fantastic place with indoor and outdoor seating. Italian inspired dishes of top class and 5 or more course surprise menu with wine pairing option. All dishes where excellent and the wine was fantastic. Price value was extremely good and service was great. Will Come back.
We ended up here almost by accident, but was glad we did. The menu was fairly limited (at least for lunch) but everything we ordered was quite good! Plus, the staff was very accommodating and pleasant. So, all-in-all, a good choice!
We arrived in this restaurant with an excellent reputation and fantastic location. Location is still great but not up to its reputation. We arrived and asked to order quickly. We ordered a fish tartare and the tortelli typical of Cremona. We had a 40 min...wait for the tartare justified by the fact that the ice “granita” needed to be prepared at the moment. I complained on the basis that they knew we had asked to be served quickly and that it is not normal to have an apetizer which needs 40 min to prepare with no advice. I was rebuked by the waiter who apologised for the time but refused to accept that it was “abnormal” to have an appetiser needing such a long time to prepare with no indication in the menu. Personally I consider it a “faute professionelle” he just insisted in his 30 yrs of experience as a guarantee for being right......... In terms of food: Branzino tartare is of no interest it is dressed with fresh tomato puree and cream which kill the flavour of the fish. The only Interesting feature is the fresh green granita itself killed by the tomato and cream. Tortelli di zucca Respect the local tradition and are good. The size of the portion is just about enough to give you a taste of what this could be. Globally to be avoided and if not, better ask more details on the food and preparation before .More
In simple words, the restaurant "Il Violino" is probably the best restaurant I have ever been so far - and I do travel quite a bit around the world, and consider myself a "foody" person. It represents the perfect combination of location, gracious and elegant...environment (without being pretentious), fantastic service, perfect food (embracing the local traditions, clean, prepared-to-perfection), and very good prices considering the quality of the meal and experience that you get. We spent only 65 euros per person for a complete amazing dinner which included antipasto, primo, secondo, dessert, prosecco and wine. It became a classic for us to enjoy at least one night at this restaurant every time we go to beautiful Cremona - something to really look forward.More
Nice place with high quality foods & professional hospitality. Quality , price, service well balanced. I recommend it.
Service Exceptional: we got a table without a reservation out on the terrace however it was windy and rainy so they moved us into the wine cellar/basement and it was great. The waiters were fun and knowledgable Food Wonderful!!!
We returned after several years as we had a very positive experience. But this time was different and in the future we will select another place. The location is still perfect and it continues to be elegant. But the food was, at best average. On...Saturday night there were only 3 tables occupied, 6 people including us. We had a risotto and a pasta, followed by fish and meat: the primi were well presented but both staled and overcooked (the risotto appeared 5 min after you ordered!) and the mains just OK. I am sure there are better and less expensive place to eatMore
Can’t fault it, good atmosphere, great staff, excellent wine, amazing food! Would definitely come here again and can recommend the place to anyone
Actually we looked for another restaurant nearby as Il Violino was not mentioned in my guide but the former was closed on Monday. So we visited this restaurant and it was just nice. Very nice food and attentive service. Perhaps a bit expensive but worthwhile...to visit without any doubt.More
We took the tasting menu (on sea tasting menu and one with beef). Good quality ingredints and good cooking! If you are looking for a nice fine dining restaurant in Cremona i recommend it. It is on the higher end of price tags for cremona...but it was well worth the money!More
We experienced a very good outside dinner on the porch. Very good service and a good choice of tasty food and wines. It was a very quiet place, may be because the prices are on the high side.
