We had the menu here, which consisted of combination of antipasti from the house and a secondo (cotoletta or Milanese meatballs) The antipasti platter was huge! (fried bread, fried onions, meat, Russian salad, ...) It was like the portion was for four people instead of two. My husband and I both took the cotoletta, and that was huge and very... More

Recommended by local student, and worth it! I had Chisolini Basket (fried bread. Delicious and abundant) and a huge and tender Cotoletta Milanese style (the one with the bone, called Elephant Ear; I chose the flat one, though apparently try the traditional one has a thicker cut).

The Veal Cutlet (Cotoletta alla Milanese) is the specialty here. They also offer a similar cutlet made with Pork that is also very tasty. There are two types: "Battuto" which means flattened with a mallet or "Con l'Osso" (with a bone also known as Elephant Ear). For centuries there has been an ongoing feud about who invented the pan fried... More

A local friend recommended this restaurant as serving typical Italian food and she was right. It's a great little place, on a side street by naviglio grande. The service was very fast, efficient and friendly and the menu had a very big variety. Everything we tasted we fantastic with the exception of the oso bucco, it wasn't the best I've... More

An elegant finale to a marvelous holiday in Italy! Ever grateful to our tour guide, (Michaela from Tours by Locals) who recommended Damm-Atra for an authentic Milanese meal. Located outside the city center, alongside the Naviglio Grande, this local restaurant is subdued and refined, and well worth the trek. A meal unto itself, the Risotto "DAMM-ATRA" is a miracle, you... This little place is great! I went on business with a gang, but they looked after us like kings. The food was great and the setting although a little bit out was brilliant. The wine was top notch. Worth a visit if you are in the vicinity

We were recommended this restaurant by a local and what a find it was. A bit off the beaten track, but I don't think that's a bad thing! We visited on a Friday evening and hadn't reserved a table, but were immediately seated. I would think if you are a bigger group and wanted to go at the weekend it... More

We had read that Damm-Atra has among the "best of the best" veal Milanese in Milan. WOW--we completely understand why! The best veal we have ever had. Excellent hot and cold appetizers, among the best risotto we have ever tasted. For those who love bread, try the fried bread appetizer. The desserts were too good to be true. Plus, the... More

Staying in Navigli

Neighbourhood Profile
Navigli
The Navigli is part of historic Milan. In the ancient days, the entire city was linked with canals, similar to Venice. Today, most of the canals are gone, but the Navigli remains a canal-based neighborhood. There are two major canals: Naviglio Pavese and Naviglio Grande. The Naviglio Grande's bridges greet visitors at dusk with an amazing view. The Navigli district specializes in clubs, cafes, and vintage shops. Lifestyle reigns supreme here. You can start the walk from the Colonne di San Lorenzo, an antique colonnade in front of the Basilica di San Lorenzo. During the daytime, this place acts as a meeting point for artists and students reading books or chatting with friends; the nights turn it into a stepping-stone for club hoppers. Science lovers will also relish the opportunity to visit the Science and Technology National Museum Leonardo Da Vinci, showcasing inventions of the Italian genius.
