+Very nice staff with good English. Table reservation was easy with e-mail. +Milieu was nice ++ Food was great! We couldn't decide what to order as appetizers so we took what the waiter recommended and we got to taste amazing seafood and meats. As a main course I ordered duck and that was a little chewy but others main courses were really nice. Deserts were also lovely. I ordered tiramisu and it was the best I have ever eaten. +Clean -Chewy duck. Other meats were delicious.

Went there for lunch. Ordered lobster and spaghetti, this dish was tasteful and good in presentation. With this dish costs for Euro $23. it was very money worth. This restaurant is for fine dining. The service is good, attentive to customer. Lovely restaurant. Reasonable price.

They were recommended by my hotel. I was staying near Central Station and it was an easy walk from there. We were seated immediately without a reservation but every take was taken shortly after we arrived. The menu had such a large variety and my wife is a picky eater who often suffers from selection anxiety, we decided on the €45pp fixed menu. Complimentary bubbly (prosecco?) started us off. The starter was prociutto and mozzarella that was the freshest I ever tasted. Each of us got a huge plate that could easily be shared. Next was a great risotto course followed by a beef plate. Dessert was Panna Cotta that we barely touched. With excellent service and a pleasant decor, it shouldn't be missed.

Everything is well thought through and totally aesthetically pleasing. From the appetizer on the house, with the olive oil and the special salt they make in house with the vinegar. The plates are beautiful , the plating. It was a magical evening with a delicious dinner. Mamma Rosa and all her staff are phenomenal and lovely ! A MUST! Plus a little limoncello and chocolate on the house. My heart melts with the staff who are all basically part of one family, with mamma Rosa as the matriarch, and their service and thoughtfulness here. We went to the opera after and it was a quick walk! Perfect dinner and experience! Thank you.

I had a high expectations of this restaurant as I have seen many good reviews and it was a nearly full house when I visited the restaurant on December 29, 2022. However, it turned out to be one of the worst experiences I've ever had when dining out. The waiter who served us was called Alam. Firstly, he served us champagne and charged us without asking us what we wanted to drink. More importantly, he did not change another set of plates for us after we had oysters, which was very disgusting and unprofessional!! It is a common fact that one should change the plates after having appetizers, not to mention oysters which are a high-risk food! I and my mum were very uncomfortable with Alam's services. We don't want to say him "racist" but the way he treated us (Hongkongese) and the Italians next to us were very contrasting! While he was very enthusiastic to assist the other tables and chatted with them happily, he rarely paid attention to us even though I kept waving at him. He showed a very rude and impatient manner when serving our table. Also, when I tried to order ice cream that I remembered had several different flavours on the menu, another waiter did not consider taking us to the menu; rather, he just assigned the flavour by himself without asking what I really wanted, which turned out there were three scopes of ice-cream that charged me 12 euros when I originally just wanted to have one scope! To conclude, I was extremely disappointed with the services of Alam and the restaurant as a whole. I and my mum felt very uncomfortable, resigned, outraged, and puzzled after the dinner there. I hope the restaurant could pay more attention to the services and attitudes of the waiters.

Bright, clean and stylish decor, suitable for families, couples or business dinners. Many locals dining late, but also very accommodating to tourists. My wife and I had Chateaubriand, which delicious, expertly prepared and presented, accompanied by bearnaise + a wine reduction and really roasted vegetables. Many people were having fish and seafood, which looked and smelled superb… next time! Excellent wine list. They also had a bottle of single malt scotch in the restaurant, which the waiter brought to my table to personally pour me a glass (or two) before dinner. Also included were the accompaniments which make an Italian dinner special… Prosecco, bruschetta, cookies, desert, limoncello … all of which I highly recommend. You know you are enjoying yourself when you spend 2.5 hours at dinner. Many thanks, Mamma Rosa’s.

Very large restaurant. 4 different large rooms. If they don’t know you , and if you’re not Italian…then it appears you will probably be seated in the back rooms , not in front. They appear to have different levels of service ( and waiters’ experience) in different rooms. We had 2 servers. One had experience. The other one, a “ helper “ maybe….was pretty clueless. Didn’t know what side of your body to present your plate or utensils. Generally Quality of food is decent, and a little higher price than average. But not great. Food kind of tasteless. Bread Quality nice, wine list large, but rather expensive, especially for Italy. There are some ok buys on wine list , but avoid the high priced stuff. Seem to be quite a few foreigners speaking English at this place. Not regulars. Also had a large party of 20 people. American type Business group with Italian hosts. They Appear to focus on large groups. Maybe they get referrals from hotels as well. We had better food in most of our other restaurant visits. If you can’t find a smaller , better place that’s open, then it maybe ok. But there’s much better food in Milan than this! This is kind of like eating at a decent Italian restaurant in USA. Not Italy. Food consistent but nothing great. Just average. The main waiter we had seemed to be trying to steer you to what he thought you should order, not what you wanted to eat. Kind of odd I thought for Italy. Not personable. Going through the motions. Maybe restaurant is simply absentee managed and too large for them to handle properly ? I would avoid next time.

I don't know why this superb establishment is listed as #254 of restaurants in Milan. It is difficult for me to image more than 200-plus restaurants that serve a finer meal than Osteria Mamma Rosa. I love good food, and Mamma Rosa delivered in a manner that I had not expected. Of course you can get your ordinary plate of pasta, but, if you are just a bit culinarily adventurous ask your server to guide you to just the right dish of the night. Our kind and attentive tour guide (aka server), Michele, listened and guided us through a memorable dining experience. A word of advice, make reservations in advance, and when you arrive at the restaurant sit down and relax. Rushing through a meal is non va bene per l'indigestione.

It is a big, busy restaurant with a colorful atmosphere and certainly worth a trip. They seem to draw a lot of family groups for special occasions. They also have a local clientele. They operate at light speed and probably get in 2 or 3 sittings every night, but no one rushes you. Management is everywhere making sure everything is efficient. The menu is vast. If you want fresh lobster, they have it. The mussel soup might feed 3 people. I was finishing a single malt after asking for the bill, and suddenly had more whiskey. Much better than apologizing for a delay. The food was good but not exceptional. The location is a bit removed from the center, but the taxi drivers know it well. Figure on an additional 25 Euros for taxis.

Upon entry, the restaurant was amazing, the maitre d’ was very friendly too. Once seated, this all changed. First of all, it took around 5 minutes to even be noticed by the waiter and to get the menus and we had to ask for a wine menu. This did not improve throughout the night. The food itself was absolutely amazing - hence the mixed feelings. Probably the best meal we have had since arriving 5 days ago. However, the waiter was running around frantically like a crazy person all night and we were unable to relax due to this. Furthermore, when we asked for cheese, he told us cheese was not for fish but for meat. I had a meat dish so was unsure why he abruptly refused cheese for me; my partner had a fish dish (he did not want the cheese anyway) and the waiter said this was unsuitable for his meal but completely ignored me, who did actually want the cheese. To top everything off, we asked for the bill but we did not receive this. After 15 minutes, we had to ask the maitre d’, who resolved the issue immediately and was very apologetic. Overall, service was terrible but food was wonderful, such a shame.

We prefer family run restaurants where locals also eat but this restaurant was mainly for tourists. The dishes were overpriced for what they were. The service was good but the waiter asked for a tip which I thought was strange. We paid 9 euro for two in coperto which was very good for the little extras we got

We were leaving from Malpensa Airport early the following day so we stayed at a hotel near the Central Station, not an area one might associate with either fine hotels or restaurants. We encountered both. On recommendation from (and reservation made by) our hotel we dined at Osteria Mamma Rosa. It was, from beginning to end, one of the most exquisite dinning experiences I have ever had. To say this is a white table cloth establishment is an understatement. The expansive rooms are tastefully decorated, the tables are adequately distanced, and the staff are unrelenting in their attention to every detail of your meal. Complimentary champagne and deconstructed bruschetta come as soon as you are seated. The expansive menu has an abundance of house specialties including fish, pasta, risotto, and meats. They were happy to accommodate our 11-year old with an improvised dish that met her palate while my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed one of the house risottos (for two), followed by Sea Bass with poppy seeds for her and a steak tartare for me. Given the attention and quality of our server, Sugee, I should not have been surprised when the tartare was prepared table side. I have eaten many tartare in my time, but this certainly ranked among the very best, with small tastes offered along the way to make sure the spice and taste were to my liking. We were far too full to enjoy the wonderful desserts on offer, but coffee and an aperitif finished off the dinner with flourish. Despite being a vast place which was absolutely packed with diners, it was not noisy at all and there was a perceptible level of calm and order about the establishment. As we were leaving we passed by table after table laden with the most wonderful looking dishes, each one seemed different from the next and every one more luxurious than the other. I cannot say enough about how wonderful an evening it was. I only wish that we could have stayed longer and enjoyed the ambience and service that flowed with such ease and grace. If you go, I recommend business casual attire and a hearty appetite.

I had not had a decent meal in weeks, so I decided to treat myself and follow the hotel's advice, OsteriaMammaRosa.it, because all I could find in the [central] neighbourhood were kebab or shisha places. They offer a small welcome glass of Prosecco and some (tasteless) micro-appetizer. The wine list was extensive (maybe 25 pages?), and very interesting, but rather pricey. Surprisingly, there was only one choice of red by the glass, some Primitivo (year not specified), which was very pleasant, 7€. I got the Tagliolini feschi con scampetti sgusciati et funghi porcini freschi, 22€, and the cotoletta di vitello alla milanese, 29€. The pasta was apparently "fatti in casa", overcooked, more spaghetti than tagliolini, but I was disappointed by the seafood in tomato sauce I was not expecting; it was rather bland. The veal, decent, came with a few cherry tomatoes and arugula leaves without the faint dressing they would have deserved. The coffee, 2,50€, was very good, the cup was pleasantly warm (rare!), and the accompanying cookies: humid. I should have picked-up on the warnings: the wines are displayed in a very lit glass case, the bottle of wine already on the table, the pre-cut bread already on the table — thus dry at 21h, and the wall with kitschy paintings of Italian scenes not from Milan. Oh well... Ordinary food for inflated prices; with coperto (4,50€) and sparkling water (3,50€) , total = 68,50€. Another tourist trap! I guess they reward hotel staff that make reservations on our behalf. I was also surprised that only a tiny % of the staff was Italian; don’t get me wrong, this is not some racist comment as I am myself an immigrant, but it tells me that the romantic Italian experience of former years has now gone; the world has indeed changed.

Sujee my waiter made this experience. He was attentive, kind and amazing while helping me select my main course. He selected the most seasonal dishes for me and make the meal unique just to me. He deserves a promotion and you need to go just for him & the food alone 😍🤤
