The initial impression was good, with a friendly waiter we dubbed Big Boss welcoming us. The other waiters fell short. The location and ambiance was great, but the food was really not much of anything. Very bland, and it's by far the worst meal we've...More

We tried this restaurant 2 years ago and when we arrived in Venice for a 1 day trip, this was the only restaurant we had to go to for dinner again. We were not disappointed. The food was still incredibly prepared with fresh ingredients and...More

This restaurant is sided by the narrowest street in Venice and I highly recommend to see it. I was invited to this restaurant by Venetian friends during my last trip to Italy. The food and presentation was incredible and the hospitality shown by the owner...More

Looks good and tastes good but darned expensive for what we had. The stair ant was well laid out and the service very good but value for money I felt was lacking.

Modern Italian food in a quiet street near the train station. The sardines and the whipped burrata appetizer were excellent. The main dishes seafood lasagna and stuffed calamari were good but not great. The tiramisu was a fresh traditional one and the celery sorbet with...More

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel and was not disappointed. The waiter was very helpful and knowledgeable about the food. The wine was beautiful. Small menu but made it easier to choose and was the waiter explained it was that size to assure quality.

A 20-minute walk from the Hotel Olimpia (with helpful directions from hotel staff, but still took a bit of finding). Small and charming, and the menu was interesting. I had the best fritto misto ever, and the prices were reasonable. Not in the least touristy,...More

We found this restaurant by accident and boy, were we glad we did. We wanted to sit on the patio but on a Saturday night in Venice with no reservation, good luck. So we settled for indoor seating in the very appointed dining room. We...More

We spent a week in Venice, tried a few restaurants and took our chances with some of the ratings and none matched what we got here. They open at 6:30 and if you are early you can get a table, or if you are at...More

Our hotel booked a table for us at this restaurant because we asked for somewhere special to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We particularly asked for a typically Venetian restaurant which would not have lots of tourists. We were greeted by a very nice waitress...More

Description
The restaurant is located in Salizzada Ca’ Zusto, between Campo San Giacomo dell’Orio and Campo Nazario Sauro in a very privileged position in the hidden Venice, away from the throngs of tourists yet conveniently close to the centre. The outside seating area is characterized by a plant of vines which embraces the entire facade, creating a pergola which provides welcome shade during the summer heat spells. On the side of the restaurant is one of the narrowest calli (Venetian street or alley) in Venice: two persons cannot walk in it side by side! The trattoria’s inside decor is warm and inviting: two inside rooms, for a total of 50 seats, with furnishings from the late 19th century, including marble tables, graceful sideboards and glass cases, original thonet chairs, and a collection of paintings by well-known artists which embellish the walls. That alone would be enough to attract connoisseurs in search of a special place to have a meal! But, most importantly, the Antica Besseta provides an excellent cuisine which is halfway between the discovery of traditions and the search of new sensations.
