I really wanted to like this cantina, where casanova once roamed. And perhaps if we had stuck to a glass of vino we would have. But the food is not great. The atmosphere was pretty good. Below average overall though, maybe we caught them on...More

The restaurant is located near the Rialto bridge. Very popular with young people. You can eat sitting at the table or standing. The food is good. Price a little high. Nice and kind staff. Good wine of the house

Wonderful place serving both standup or seated meals in the best venitian tradition. Not to be missed. We returned twice and enjoyed every single dish we ordered. Friendly service.

Being from the Midwestern United States, we aren't big eaters of seafood or fish. This establishment offered a battered and fried ham and cheese that was really very good. We really enjoyed it.

Cantina Do Spade was an accidental find, and so pleased we did. Travelling partner and I had lunch there and found it to be so how we thought a long established 'real' Venetian restaurant should be. The food was fabulous, staff friendly, and we went...More

Some cicchetti and wine in a small alley intersection not far from the Rialto bridge, Do Spade was a terrific spot for meeting locals and other international travelers. The mood is convivial without being raucous and the food and wine were excellent. Prices were moderate....More

We were there early, around 11:30 and locals were coming in on their morning break for a glass of wine. I'm in the wrong job! Delicious meatballs and deep fried zucchini blossoms and white wine. Lots of history. A gem, but not so hidden.

San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the
Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six
sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest
neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the
markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops
display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San
Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi)
stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San

One of the most ancient Venetian osterie, the Cantina Do Spade is only a few steps away from the Rialto Bridge. This bacaro offers a variety of cicheti: small typically Venetian snacks like fried squid rings, meatballs, mozzarelle in carrozza, baccala mantecato etc. Here our friendly staff and atmosphere will make you feel at home, but with the opportunity to taste fine and fresh food.
