Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went to lots of Bacaro’s in Venice and this had the best selection of cicchetti and a couple of veggie/vegan choices which was nice. Really dark traditional interior - in a good way and reasonable prices - we went twice

Nice and authentic place. The food was amazing and me and my friend managed to get a table without reservation. My advice, get a reservation before. Again, the food was amazing.

Perfect very italian place for casual dining. Gnocchi with duck was incredibly tasty. We were a little disappointed that the tagliatelle with shrimp still had shell on which is awkward with sauce but flavour great. Would totally recommend

We had an absolutely fantastic evening at Al Portega. The atmosphere and whole experience was wonderfully italian and fabulous to be part of. We stopped by for cicchetti and a glass of Prosecco but ended staying for a three course meal and plenty of drinks....The staff were amazing and the food included a Tagliata di Tonno con Sesamo that was as good as any dish we have eaten on our travels. A truly wonderful experience!More

It was fully booked when we arrived. But there was a cute spot across the bar where we could stand and enjoy the excellent wines and aperitivos. The food was very good and not expensive. The service was friendly and there was a good ambiance.

Awesome Venetian Food. Loved the fish but meat also looked great too. Thanks Claudia (our local guide) for the recommendation. The family thoroughly enjoyed the seafood Tagliatelle, Risotto and Calamari. Well worth a visit but not for big groups.

This is a great place to enjoy cicheti as a tourist in Venice. The atmosphere is welcoming, the food and drink is tasty (try the baked scallop), and the guys who operate the business speak several languages. They were also so kind to my little...one preparing her spaghetti off the menu, and bringing her chalk to draw with. AC, a clean washroom, and cold water to refill our water bottles were just a terrific bonus. I hope to return again someday and enjoy he Prosecco.More

I love to be able to just enter from their door and they will give you a big hello, a very cheap but good ombra and a range of delicious cicchetti.

I recently dined at a restaurant in Italy that left me quite disappointed. The lack of service and unprofessional behavior made it hard for me to recommend this place to others. Upon entering, we were surprised to find no available servers or clear instructions on...seating. Assuming it was self-seating, we chose our own table. However, when we asked for a larger table, the server responded sarcastically, often laughing with colleagues in a way that made us uncomfortable. The back-and-forth conversation that followed was frustrating, and we eventually decided to leave. We requested our unfinished dish to be packed, but it was noticeably smaller than the portions served to others. Overall, our experience was disappointing. The lack of hospitality, unprofessional behavior, and subpar service make it hard for me to suggest this restaurant. Consider exploring other dining options that prioritize customer satisfaction.More

This place was absolutely fantastic! We had a “frittura” of fish, and veggies it was so light and fresh. One of the best thing about this place was the staff, so friendly and down to earth. I really felt like I found a little corner...of the real Venice that I heard about. The spritz were nice and did not feel watered down, unlike the more touristy places. The place has some tables but there is a small piazza right by it where you can enjoy your drinks in the shade. I really suggest this place to anyone looking for a real Venetian place.More

The first night in Venice we stumbled upon this OSTERIA and we were so happy we did.The place is small, only a handful of tables and a chalkboard menu written in Italian. Omar was our waiter and he translated the entire menu for us. We were...a party of 4 and we shared a couple starters and main dishes,we washed down with their house white. The wine was so good we ordered a second carafe. The fried seafood was the best I have ever had! Their was calamari, shrimp and sardines, lightly battered and fried. It was light and crispy and sooo fresh. Thinly sliced roast beef was the other hit of the meal. Omar was very outgoing, knowledgeable and guided us well. I highly recommend this as a must try when visitingVenice.More

Loved this place and ate there twice during our month in Venice. We had dinner in the small osteria section, but the cicchetti looked great too. First off, if they have the fegato, and fegato is something you eat, by all means get this classic...Venetian dish. Theirs is a bit different than versions I saw around the city, with more sauce. Delicious. And it was served over a pool of creamy polenta, which I much prefer to the grilled slabs ofpolenta you see elsewhere. The slabs are easier for restaurants to handle, but the fresh polenta is far better IMHO. The pastas were all great too, as was the lasagna of the day. Great advice from our server, who said, go for the dishes you wouldn't prepare at home. And eggplant, done correctly, involves a lot of work. She was right! Our server the second time was also helpful and since we basically shut down the place, we had time to talk. And, since he is an expert craft beer brewer (yes, there is beer in venice!), he let us taste a beer we had been eyeing all night for its glorious color and creaminess. That kind of interaction is also emblematic of al Portego, which is both traditional and. historic and updated and also has youthful artisanal energy.More

The name of this restaurant has changed to Calle Malvasia . It was difficult to find but was happy to finally get there . It was a small place with mostly locals . We didn’t speak Italian so we basically pointed to food in the...glass case . It was very good . I don’t know what we were eating but it was delicious and reasonably priced . I would definitely returnMore

I didn't see anyone eating Cicchetti at a table, I guess they use seating for big plates which need knives and forks but give them a ring they all speak English. Not sure about the name but don't think it's changed recently... More
