We came across this place by chance around lunchtime. I'm so happy we went in. The food we had here was the best we had in Venice and for the quality for the price was increcible. We started with a cheese plate that was matched so well and then had two primi (spaghetti alle vongole and spaghetti nero di seppie).... More

Popped in for lunch after touring the Palazzo Ducale. We shared a caprese and pizza; both were good and the service was friendly. We sat upstairs and noted that every table was taken by an obviously tourist group. This is a safe choice if you're looking for a lunch option.

We have just returned from a wonderful meal at Al Vecio Canton. It is not very easy to find, and very easy to miss, so best to use Apple or Google maps to find it. It's a bit off the beaten track, but obviously very popular and lots of locals there, which is a good sign I think. I had... More

The pizza here is delicious. They "age" their pizza dough for 24 hours and it is very flavorful. I never really thought of pizza dough having a lot of flavor, but this one does. Venice is not permitted to have wood burning ovens. They are considered a fire hazard. But the pizza maker makes an excellent, thin crust pizza with... More

The little restaurant is located not too far from piazza San Marco but in a very tiny little road. We enjoyed the food pretty much especially the sea-food spaghetti. Pizzas are really good too. The atmosphere is very causy.

10 min walk from San Marco Sq you find great pizza one of the best. We had the bologna and spinach pizza and a side of meat pasta with a very good white wine. Excellent food, very good staff and good value for the $ ( Highly Recommended )

This restaurant was close to our Airbnb, and I'm so glad we stopped in (and managed to get a table without a reservation) on our last night in Venice. We decided later that it was the best meal of our entire 10-day trip through Switzerland and Venice! I had the lasagna, which was easily the best I've had. My husband... More

5 minutes away from the busy crowd you will find this great pizza restaurant. Fresh ingredients and friendly personell. Come to rest and enjoy the good food before you return to the tourist madness.

My husband and I had just arrived in Venice for the 4th leg of our honeymoon and we're so excited for good Italian pizza, wine and pasta! After a rather arduous trek with luggage through the canal streets, we dropped off our bags and headed right to Al Vecio Canton. The wine our server recommended was well priced and absolutely... Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
