Had our dinner in this restaurant, as it was very closed to our BB.The place is small, and full with guests, but they served the meal very fast. I had a pizza diavolo, the brought a king size pizza for 9 Euros. It was fresh, very tasty. For two of us I paid less than 30 Euros which is very... More

We found this restaurant by accident and if you would a relative inexpensive meal for Venice but good quality food this place is worth seeking out.

This was the first restaurant I went to in Venice. I was hungry and tired when I arrived in the evening. I took a walk and passed this restaurant. They had a staff standing outside promoting the restaurant. 3 course meal for €18 which was a good deal! My dinner was: Spaghetti al pomodoro (spaghetti with tomato sauce) The spaghetti... More

I spent 4 days in Venice and on the last evening decided to try this wonderful restaurant. It is roughly 5/10 minutes out from Piazza St. Marco, so slightly away from the main centre but certainly worth visiting. The food was excellent and staff very friendly and accommodating. When I return to Venice I will certainly be coming back here... More

Tucked away down a maze of small streets but just five minutes from our hotel (Sant'Antonin) this restaurant was a lovey find. It's cosy with very friendly staff and good food. The tables upstairs are quiet and the restaurant has a very relaxed and pleasant feel.

We came to the restaurant with no reservations. It's not a tourist scam because it's not in the way of the attractions. We had there two pizzas that was good and was prepared infront of us by a pizziolo. The service was fast and good. As i said, the place is a local place for the locals and you could... More

Ate exquisitely in this quaint restaurant located in the long winding narrow roads of Venice . The service was really good and the waitress was extra careful to inform us about any gluten in the food . Superb experience :)

Another restaurant recommended this one as their’s was booked--remember, in Venice you must make dinner reservations especially on the weekend. It’s dark inside. I can’t complain about the service--yes, slow, but it gave us time to relax, talk, and enjoy our wine--slow doesn’t bother me when I’m relaxing over dinner. I had the blank ink squid over polenta--the polenta was... More

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
