The restaurant was recommended by the receptionist of our hotel. It has a cozy and rustic atmosphere and an unvelievable choice of pizza! We tried the carpaccio and the tagliata - both nicely presented and delicious. We had no space left for dessert but we'll surely come back!

Stopped off at this restaurant after recommendation by staff at our Hotel. We went for dinner and the restaurant had not long opened, but seemed to fill up with a mixture of locals and tourists. Staff were very friendly, especially the female waitress who served us. Great selection of various Italian food, fish dishes, pasta etc Also great Italian beers.... More

Don't let the bright lights and busy atmosphere scare you. The table side prepared Steak tartar rates in my top 3 worldwide ! My wife's pizza was thin crust and excellent. Steaks and other dishes served near by looked fantastic. Good choice of beverages. Terrific service Our trip was too short or we would definitely been back Highly recommended........although a... First night in venice, and our hotel recommended this restaurant - as soon as you walk in, you just know from the smell it's going to be great. We both ordered pizza because of the smell and we weren't disappointed. Service was great, and the tiramisu a delight. Out of the way, but if you are in the area its... More

This is exactly the restaurant we were looking for. A real italian non touristic restaurant in Venice which is not easy to find close to the city center. Great food, fair prices, great service, fantastic owners truly dedicated to the restaurant. Traditional fantastic food. Ideal for dinner in the terrace.

On November 20, 2016 some friends and I had a most enjoyable dinner at this restaurant. Making the reservation some days before was simple and easy; staff was very welcoming on our arrival and the various meal segments were served by a very courteous gentleman named Roberto. All in all the experience was very pleasing and enjoyable. And, lest I... More

My Wife & I arrived at 20:00 on Tuesday 25th , we had not booked. We were shown to our table, the restaurant was quite busy. there is a €2.50 cover charge per person, but no service charge is added on top. We were given menus, our drinks orders were taken, I had 0.5L Vino Rosso €8 and my wife... More

Excellent service. Very good pizzas. Our neighbor went for the tartare which looked excellent (prepared in situ). Finished with a real creme brûlée (warm and grilled). Very satisfied

In which country is it normal not to greet the guests? I had book a table by phone and when I arrived and I told that to a waiter...no one said anything to us during 10 minutes. Waiters not looking at us while throwing menus on the table, didn't suggest anything when the dish I ordered was not in the... More

This was the first restaurant we visited in Venice this year. We were tired from the trip and a little emotional from the Prosecco. We both ate Pizza which was thin and crispy and very tasty, a simple meal with a glass of wine to send us off to sleep at the end of a day of travelling to one... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
