We had a nice dinner here and the food was nice if a little quirky at times. It’s a very modern and fine dining style inside with some great art work on display. Its located in the Dorsoduro district and overlooks the waterway to the Giudecca district opposite Venice so a little away from the main can Canal area and... More

I copy/paste form our menu, the same that you had on your table or that you can actually find on the front door, or on the web: “sea-bass fillet with brussels sprouts cream, red turnip custard and Jerusalem artichokes veil“. I don’t know how, but the mix of yours lines and the description of this dish that you had on... More

Enjoyed everything about our experience here. The food was fantastic - exceptional taste, presentation, and quantity was just right. Very creative. And they did a wine pairing for us which was exceptional. The service was amazing including the owner ensuring our experience was great. Atmosphere is perfect too - quaint place overlooking the canal. Wasn't cheap, but that was our... More

I dined here a couple of evenings ago with my family. We live in Venice and know lots restaurants here, but had not been to the Riviera in many years. Our experience was excellent. The ambience is elegant yet relaxing, the service expert and attentive (starting from the owner, who personally greets each table and takes a sincere interest in... More

Me and my partner visited for lunch on Valentine's Day which turned out to be a beautiful, glorious sunny day; which in Venice on this day was quite something. We sat outside and had an aperitif which offers a stunning view over to Guidecca. We were shortly greeted by the propirter who made us feel extremely welcome in a quiet,... More

To serve as background, I am from Los Angeles and have gone to many a nice restaurant. I spent 3 weeks in Italy in October and ate at almost exclusively at Michelin-starred and similar restaurants with set menus and wine pairings. I then went to Copenhagen and dined at Noma. When I ate at Riviera, I posted on Facebook immediately... More

visited tonight and couldn't fault a single a thing food and service was exceptional. opted to chose are own courses rather than the tasting menu as the girlfriend is quite fussy but she loved it as much as I did. would massively recommend riviera as a must to anyone visiting Venice

This restaurant is highly recommended and we enjoyed it but felt we had to be on our best behavior instead of relaxing and enjoying our meals. Better food and atmosphere in other places.

Hello mizzelle! if “to be on our best behavior” means to you that a Guest during his dinner or lunch must be careful to do not split on the floor, to do not make a too intimate finger investigation of his personal nose, to do not put a shoe over the tablecloth and to clean it with the napkin, to... The service was impeccable from start to finish. The only reason for the 4 vs. 5 stars is that regular prix fixe menu has some odd/non-traditional choices that weren't very appealing (IMHO). We ended up ordering the pasta with white truffles (for an extra 35 Euro each) and the salt encrusted red snapper (for an extra 15 Euro each), It's... More

We have visited a lot of marvelous restaurants. This is currently NR1. The combined atmosphere and state of the art food and wine is mindblowing. Visit on a warm summer night! Just... WOW!!!

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
