The service of this restaurant is good . The waiters and waitresses are friendly and warm. The fired shrimp is fresh. Also the spaghetti with spicy crab and another one with baby octopus taste well. But this restaurant is a little bit expensive but have a good atmosphere.

I spent hours searching for a special restaurant that served local fresh seafood and wasn't just another tourist trap. A real challenge in Venice. I was delighted with my choice as our meal was absolutely delicious. The starter of mixed seafood was just wonderful and the soft shell crab was absolutely delicious. Our entire group loved the whole meal. The... More

In Venice for my birthday so booked a table here as it's had such great reviews (including Rick Stein). As we knew it was difficult to find, we did a recce during the afternoon to ensure a smooth arrival. The restaurant was very busy but the dining room is quite cosy and the service is elegant and professional. We took... More

Finally found this restaurant open after my fourth time trying. The food was enjoyable but overpriced. Book well ahead to secure a table and make sure it is open - it rarely is!

Visiting Venice for the day, we faced the challenge of avoiding tourist traps when having lunch, and fortunately we had an insider tip for the right place. The Antiche Carampane is a pleasant trattoria which requires good directions/map to find, but then rewards you with excellent food quality, friendly service, and a nice atmosphere. The place is not cheap, in... More

We have heard from several local people that Antiche Carampane is the best seafood restaurant in Venice and our experience confirms that. This is a small cosy place located not far from Rialto fish market. It is always packed, even for lunch, so reservation is essential. Finding location could be difficult within a network of small narrow streets, so a... More

A 20 min walk from the tourist area and a bit difficult to find. Quaint place and the menu was 90% fish. The meal was very special and some good wines to compliment. Venice is expensive But this place is a find

This is a really really great restaurant, and as other reviewers say, it is one of the best in Venice. Delicious, fresh and very tasty seafood and fish - particularly the pasta dishes - that is fairly priced (considering we're in Venice...) and accompanied by a great wine list and friendly and efficient service. We went only a couple of... More

Cosy restaurant with a nice atmosphere and authentic food. Needed to book in advance for a place on a Saturday night - there was a queue outside the door when we left! A little expensive for what it was: 90 euros for 2 mains, a bottle of cheapish wine and a dessert.

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
