I was visiting Venice with three friends and we ate our evening meal at da Nino. At first the waiter appeared a little grumpy however this impression didn't last for very long. Two of us ordered the seafood menu. A gorgeous fish soup with chunks of fish, muscles, prawns followed by beautifully fresh sea bass which came with either vegetables... More

Trattoria da Nino was located just a short distance from our hotel, so we stopped in for a late dinner. The staff was very prompt and professional, not the friendliest but you can't expect everybody to have the same personality, so I found no faults. I ordered the Penne al Pesto and my husband had a penne dish as well,... More

Having arrived the day before from California and still severely jet-lagged, we wer delighted to find this restaurant open for dinner at 6PM. Most here seem to open at 7:00. We had different styles of pasta, all were very good. Mine was a white sauce with bacon and the pasta was al dente. Loved it! Venice is such a maze... More

Bruschetta starter was good and the house wine, we both had steak! (Really bad). Place is ok. And staff meets your needs! Very overpriced!

Pizza is expensive, small and full of oil. Other ingredients aren't great. Don't eat here. Do yourself a favour.

Good food, fair prices (for Venice), great selection of beverages and attentive service. All and all good value for your money.

Not far from San Zaccaria this is a lovely place to eat at reasonable cost. Te food is well cooked with a pleasing choice on the menu.

We ate at this atmospheric restaurant one evening while in Venice. The menu was wide ranging and the staff friendly. The food was pretty much standard fare with pizza and pasta to the fore. Having said that we chose fish and pork dishes that were excellent. Price wise two of us ate and drank for 60 euros which was about... More

Was concerned about eating here as wife is Gluten Intolerant, however Owner assured us that he could do a gluten free Penne which received a 10 rating from the good lady wife, traveling companions and I had pizza's which were scrumptious, drinks were half the price from places two streets away on the main canal. would recommend this restaurant but... Try their fish menu at 29 euros which comes with a choice of an appetizer, a main dish, a side (large portion) and a slice of tiramisu. Large plates and tasty, great service. Tried the Barolo and it was delicious amongst friends. We had a lovely evening.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
