I've been yesterday having dinner with my girlfriend and was awesome! The staff was really helpful with us and they have recommended the menu perfectly!. As starters we got a plate of buffalo mozzarella with ham and a taleggio cheese cream with butternut! The starters were massive and as a main we got pasta with prawns and pistachio cream! Even... We tried 3 other places that were full with reservations before trying this one. Pleased with the service, as the waiter was friendly and explained the gnocchi was different than typical. The Valpolicella Classico was a tasty red wine for 18 euro. Enjoyed my rasagnole cacao as a different type of pasta, sweet and salty combination. My friends were pleased... More

Visited here on a Sunday lunchtime. Restaurant was empty when we arrived at 12.30, but was full by the time we left. Waiters were very friendly and gave great food and wine recommendations. They also really looked after our children 3 and 6 making sure they had bread to keep them busy and getting their food out first. My husband... More

It's one of the loveliest restaurants in Venice. I've been there twice and can't wait to come back! The team there is very welcoming and polite, and the food is simply amazing, I had the best pizza in my life! Desserts and wines are very nice as well :) It's a place I'd definitely recommend if you're looking for authentic... More

Nice little restaurant, attracting mostly locals, with very good food, a nice decor and a relaxed ambiance. The service is fast and the waiters polite. The menu has a wide selection for every taste. The prices -for Venice- are quite affordable. (Although I found the dessert and the refreshment drinks to be a bit pricey.) We had different sorts of... More

Near Campo Santa Margerita, "Il Profeta" is my trusted place whenever I am in Venice. Nice place (in summer they have a great outdoor area), good food, good wine at a very fair price. If you're tight on money you'll go for their tasty pizza (broad choice). If you want to taste the local cuisine you can choose between all... More

We went there for dinner on the recommendation of the lady who rented us the apartment we stayed in. We were greeted very warmly, first ones seated, waiter suggested a really good local wine, then took our food order. That was the last we saw of him for a good while. It seemed the other tables were already getting their... More

We have eaten here many times. The food is excellent and the portions large. We usually share a starter. The wine list is reasonably priced and quite varied. Service is quick and friendly and everyone seems to speak English. In winter it's cosy inside and in summer the garden is cool and shady. The restaurant is slightly off the beaten... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
