Campo San Stefano is a wide elegant square on the route from Accademia to the Rialto. It has three adjacent restaurants on its east side, each with many seats under their parasole. This is the northernmost - furthest from the Accademia direction - and fills up first. It is busy but efficient. On a warm evening, outdoor dining is good.... More

Loved the location in this lovely bustley square near to St Marks but without the price tag! Pizzas fresh and well presented, wine cold and reasonably priced.

We ate at place next door, and had terrible service and mediocre food, but watched the bustling S. Stefano next door to where we were seated. The next night we came to S Stefano, wonderful! Great service and wonderful food! Very good prices. Three kids loved it as well. Will return!

We wanted a nice lunch outside and got it here. The wait staff were very friendly, the food was terrific and the people watching good. We had the pizza and the house wine. Very good and reasonably priced.

If you are looking for good pizza and pasta between St. Mark's Square and the Accademia Bridge, this is a good choice for al fresco dining in a large plaza. The menu is in four languages and the servers are very genial. We spent around 85 Euros for a shared pizza appetizer, a pasta dish, a fish dish, shared dessert,... More

This was a perfectly adequate restaurant but didn't really impress. Well cooked and well presented meals but no wow factor. A reliable standby if nothing else excites you.

Eating in Venice is a bit of a challenge. You can pay a fortune for tourist food on St Marks Square. However, find this restaurant and enjoy great food and ambience as you watch the world go by.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
