Stopped here for a drink one afternoon - it's a great spot with a view over the Grand Canal and ideal for some people watching. Prices are considerably cheaper than St Mark's square around the corner.

On our first visit to Venice we had 2 dinners here, today we had lunch. It is a waterfront restaurant and so a 12.5% cover charge is expected. Good service, location in a very busy area. The food has always been good quality and portions.

Great staff, great food and a good selection for all budgets. The staff go out of their way to ensure you're well looked after. I am a vegetarian and the chef was more than happy to accommodate any additional dishes that I wanted. Nice to be able to have relaxing meal whilst in such a busy area of Venice -... More

Extremely rude and arrogant staff, pizza was tasteless, wine overpriced and bad quality. 15.9% service charge to ad insult to injury. Steer clear and go for the traditional back street restaurants who do not charge a service charge but give fantastic service

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
