Been twice and both times excellent food. Very good fish dishes. Extremely friendly service and good reasonable price. Highly recommend but need to book.

We came here on a fresh night in November. As soon as we got inside we were welcomed; the staff were so friendly and the restaurant itself was warm. We had an antipasto, primi, secondi and a dessert and each of the meals was great food. I'd go back here again.

Found this wonderful restaurant 10 mins away from our hotel in Cannaregio and absolutely loved it. We walked in and got a booking for the same evening which given the popularity we were very lucky. All three courses were fabulous, great choice (although slightly heavy on the fishy side, there were some good meat options too). We probably overdid it... More

if you persist you can find excellent places to eat in Venice. Osteria La Bottega ai Promessi Sposi is one of them. Located in a tiny alleyway away from the tourist crowds. Excellent service and delicious local food. Well worth the trip there. Closest stop is Ca'D'Oro on the Grand Canal Line Number 1 waterbus.

We were recommended this place by the owner of a nearby wine bar and he was right very good authentic food served with gusto and no English menu in sight Spaghetti and clans very good as well as the gambos maybe a little salty but I think that's local taste overall a great experience but expect 50 euros each with... I wanted to try original venetian cuisine and found this one on TripAdvisor. The dishes are very tasty. I had pasta in salsa (ground anchovis in vinegar with sweet Tropea onions - delicious) and a very good smoked salmon. My girlfriend had pasta with a capers-nut-pesto (very good too) and squid in tomato sauce (i'd only recommend that one to... More

Lovely food served well and good staff to look after you. I had a seat where I could see into the kitchen which was spotless and the food being cooked.

Don't hesitate! Easily accessed from the Main Street running through Canareggio, this gem of a place is a must-see. A genuine, unaffected and relaxed atmosphere in which beautiful food is served by equally lovely people. Cichetti excellent too. All keenly priced. Just do it! ❤️

We had dinner with a group of 9. The service was perfect, the food excellent. The part where people were taking an aperitivo also seemed very nice, with good appetizers. We would definitely go again!

We (son 13 and I) dropped in on a recommendation from a friend. We were lucky and early, so they had a table for us. Our choice was simple: Caprese, tuna tartare, manza with little chunks of potato, a salad and a thick pasta with a sausage based sauce. I had a very nice smooth white house wine. We very... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
