We celebrated a birthday party and wanted a romantic evening with nice food. We found it here in optima forma. Nice and efficient service, nice people all around. And tasty food, simple but delicious. Good affordable wines may be chosen from a well filled list. In a romantic quiet neighborhood Cannareggio.

We got this recommendation from our very friendly and elegantly spoken host at Arcadia Boutique Hotel. Well prepared fresh local affair, slightly off the beaten path. We enjoyed the Mediterranean stew and the Amatriciana (bacon and tomato) pasta. Both carefully prepared, interesting and delicious. We finished the meal with a red wine pear with ricotta cheese ice cream. Highly recommended... More

Cozy yet amazing restaurant. Off the beaten path and visited by locals. Every dish we got there was amazing flavor explosion, good to the last bite. Highly recommend. You won't be disappointed!

For our final night in Venice we opted for a meal in a restaurant on the Cannareggio near to our hotel and chose the Osteria L’Orto dei Mori, it appeared to offer a modern twist on Italian classics. The reception/meal started somewhat frostily when we were seated in a somewhat cramped table right by the door, the waitress then admonished... More

A stones throw from our apartment, we ate here twice. The menu is varied using the freshest produce, a good mix of locally caught seafood and tasty meat and vegetarian dishes. Highly recommend the Fergato Veniziana (liver) the fillet steak, the mackerel, the capaccio, the fennel salad and all the deserts are brilliant. Good wine list, good service. Ideal for... More

We stopped here for lunch whilst exploring the area - both had pasta dishes which were simple but very tasty. Nice and quiet spot.

Went here for a lunch while walking through cannareggio. Our expectations were high after reading the reviews for this place. But we were soon put at ease when our starters (scallops) arrived. When thinking that the starter would hard to top the main course managed to surpass it in flavour and composition. Highly recommended if you love great food.

Good food in a quiet corner of Venice, popular with the locals. Interesting decor inside, and dining on the quiet square outside in the summer.

This Osteria has excellent food and wine and the prices reflect that. It is a small restaurant, like most establishments in Venice, so couples will likely be seated in close proximity to other couples. For us this was wonderful because we love to have conversations as part of our travel experience. I recommend making a reservation. Alternatively, one can show... More

The place is quite cosy and located in a quieter area. The food was just devine, simple but with the best ingredients. The service could have been a bit friendlier and less hurried - yes! Very efficient, but a bit more time between the courses would have been nice.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
