Visted for dinner on the recommendation of our hotel. Lovely staff who spoke excellent English. Restaurant easy to find and only a few minutes walk from the Rialto bridge but away from all the tourist traps. Fantastic selection of fresh fish, my husband particularly enjoyed the fresh fried daily catch, a local speciality. Lovely desserts and a complimentary lemoncello at... More

Our hotel made a reservation for us. The restaurant specialises in fresh seafood and freshly made pasta. I had tagliatelle with seafood of the day and my husband had ravioli filled with sea bass. Both meals were faultless. The wine was lovely and the service friendly. There were many locals dining there. Great first meal in Venice.

We are looking a special restaurant for a celebration (a job success) and we found this restaurant walking (and lost) in Venice. The food is very good. We were surprised with some special dishes. The dessert is also so delicious. The place is nice too. Good restaurant to enjoy with a special company.

It was our last dinner in Venice and it payed off! Wonderful food from starters to desert! We had ravioli filled with cheese with pumpkin sauce and lobster linguine! For starters we had the Caprese Con Burrata Cremosa e Crostoni Di Pane, for me a complete surprise, really good! For desert the pear ricotta cheesecake, delicious! The service is good... More

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel and we visited on a quiet Sunday night; in fact we were the only diners for most of the evening. However, we enjoyed an excellent meal with great sea food choices and traditional Venetian cuisine. Service was attentive and the dining room has a nice rustic feel.

We stumbled across La Porta D'Acqua while meandering the streets of Venice. It is a bit off the beaten path, but not so far off to make it hard to find, just devoid of crowds of tourists. Salad, risotto with scampi and pumpkin, and grilled vegetables of the day are what we chose for our dinner. Very good! We chose... More

We had dinner here on our first night in Venice - made reservations in advance of the trip. The seafood platter was as good as it gets, and I'd order it again and have it shipped home if I could :)

Having stumbled across this wonderful little lace the previous night, we decided to make sure we could reserve a table here for our last night in Venice. Only a short walk away from the bustling its busy street restaurants around the Rialto Bridge, but not hidden enough to make it difficult to find. This charming little restaurant showed how Venetian... More

My partner and I had a dinner here while we were in Venice, and the food was very good. The zucchine alla scapece with fish was excellent. I'd note that the portions were a bit variable - the pasta dishes were a good size, but for the main dish I ordered the amount of fish was fairly small and I... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
